They volunteer and are given training and orders. They sign up to do a job. A job assigned to them by the higher ups in the military. They HAVE to do certain things, even is it is to kill. Some never expect to have to make a decision to kill someone. But they do because it is their JOB. They cannot get out of it. It's a JOB. A nasty job in some instances. But they HAVE to do it.
The most we can do is to pray that this Iraq mess is soon over.

I haven't met very many people who attack our military. However, I have met many people who have a problem with our government who is using the military as a political tool to achieve it's own self-serving goals. I'd agree with them. I have no problem with the military...I have a problem with the corrupt, greedy, inept idiots who are running the military and who are sending our brave soldiers to die occupying a country that had NO WMDs, NO clear ties to Osama, and NO part in the 9/11 attacks. It's pretty messed up!

Believe it or not, the military isn't to blame for this mess...our Commander in Chief is and our Secretary of Defense is. Our soldiers, airmen and sailors only carry out the orders as given. But noone signs up to join the military with the hopes of going into combat or having to kill someone. In fact, we dread it--we hope that day never comes however, our military has to be properly trained and prepared to deal with what could possibly happen.
I dare anyone to find a person in the military now that actually enjoys serving in Iraq, being away from his/ her family for months at a time and not knowing when they're going to return.
We volunteer for the military, yes...but provided that we aren't deliberately led into harm's way.

do not beleive each thing you listen and be conscious contained in the archives even if in Print, Radio or television. Many in this international are very apprecitive of what we've performed and are doing. even if in our usa at present we've a collection of sore loosers that purely received't get over the actual incontrovertible fact that Gore and Kerry lost the election to Bush and could say and do something to interrupt his legacy down. we are a rustic of little while period memory. If its to any extent further than a citecom 30 minute tutor on the television its purely sure to be incorrect. seem on those that needed us the most contained in the present previous France and Germany. They fought tooth and Nail to safeguard Saddam and his 2 boy to the bitter end. yet who change into there to keep the day to keep them from Hitler. holding that funds in our usa is reliable we choose extra efficient roads and well being care little question. yet for the most section at the same time as the folk from different international places choose medical help they head for the US. Or US experienced docs. issues which contain international warming might want to likely be genuine yet no one ever speaks of the vogue of international Cooling contained in the 1970's with the very similar motives yet it dissapeared. existence will bypass on. And convinced we've been attacked do not you keep in ideas 9-11? some issues stopped or slowed for slightly yet we picked up and continued.

Good question, I personally support the "good" members of the military.. Those who do their job RIGHT. But unfortunately, I'll use logic.

First of all, they never had to join the military in the first place (except for draft, draftees doesn't count for this reason), it's an all volunteer military. Why would you join an organization who are designed and made to kill others for your country, there are plenty ways to serve your country or your community without having to kill. Be a doctor, a teacher, help tutor people around your neighborhood for free.. Help take care seniors without pay, assist your nearest YMCA...
But then there are those who join to take care of their futures, I honor those people.. Trying to make most of their futures since most of them come from poverty, they work hard.. But then you can get scholarships from organizations, or for example the University of California (Berkeley) has a scholarship program. That is if you have a high school degree and good academic performance and extracurricular activities, but you need good academic and a high school degree (or GED) to join the military anyways...

No one can force some one to do anything, remember that, if a military personnel was asked to kick an innocent pregnant women to death or go to prison for disobeying orders.. They have 2 choices. Do your job and be disrespected by the public, or not to your job and be honored yet in prison.

Then there are military men and women who over abuse their power. People don't understand that if one person from a group does something bad or good, it doesn't mean the whole group is good or bad... It's called stereotyping and it's human nature, like it's human nature to care about yourself first before others.
The media doesn't help at all with that either, look at how many reports of Guantanamo or Abu Gharib torturing and sexual abuses there are, war crimes committed against others, sure most or some of those tortured were guilty but do we have to degrade ourselves and them so low to punish them? Since when did other lives were more important then US lives? Would you rather save 1 US person, or 15 Iraqis, all of them are innocent and have a promising future..?
The police does the same, have you heard of the student who got tazered about 6 or more times while he was trying to leave the library, it happened at Cal University. Whole bunch of people abuse or screw around with the power and honor they have, and wrecks the reputation for the good ones.

Just because they kill doesn't mean they should be hated, what about people who kill because they are being raped or kidnapped? Those military men/women defend them selves when they're fired at by hostile forces who are against the US or maybe even world governments.

Oh yeah, don't forget the idiots to who hate on the military just for what the President did. Military never wanted to invade Iraqi, the President did, even tho they had a choice... No one EVER thought it was going to be as bad as this. No one EVER thought our own government would over hyped how good this invasion is to the people and how it's going to bring democracy...

Sorry my grammar isn't very good, I'm kind of tired and depressed.. But god bless the "good" military wo/men for defending our country.

If we declare war on a country or (even terrorism) we must expect to be attacked. Such is the nature of war.

If a person wants to join the military, they can and do, want to defend their country at all costs. No one should be forced to join.

Iraq was presented as an enemy (mistakenly) and has disintegrated into a quagmire from it is difficult to retreat with any dignity.

I most certainly do not attack or military, except for higher ups who do not put themselves in danger, only others, but i do not support the men that sent our military to Iraq.

People attack the military for several reasons.

Some attack it because they don't like the job they're doing.

Some attack it because of the military rules.

Some attack it because of its cost to run it.

Some attack it because that's what they learned to do during the Vietnam era, and they think it's still cool (kinda like they still wear sandals) and they can't do a "summer of love" anymore without Viagra.

Men who are afraid to join the military, often hate the military.
They know they are not real men, so they attack real men.
They are jealous.
(Especially since so many women are brave and join the military.)
Can you imagine what that does to the sissies' egos?

they have no idea what it is like to serve and so they think it is stupid to risk you life for an ideal. Since they can not fathom the commitment and honor that our service members exhibit
