When my husband and I finished college, mine were just over $10,000, and my husbands were significantly higher. It took us four years to pay off and we did it by sharing a car and living very cheaply. We never went out to eat and did a lot of garage sale shopping!

Mine were $12,000 and I actually paid them off in eight years. If you are financially able to do so, I highly recommend paying a little more each month. In doing so, you save tons of money in the long run in interest, and get rid of them sooner, meaning you'll have more money later.
