who cares....none of them should get anything...theyre in there to be punished...they cost enough to house and feed without splashing out....there are pensioners in this country that fought for the scumbags rights that they have today that wont be eating as well as prisoners.....for gods sake some pensioners cant afford to turn the heating on....not to mention lots of other unfortunates..

The problem here is that the question is misleading and therefore has caused confusion. Do you mean "why do BRITISH muslims get better looked after during ramadan than british CHRISTIANS during christmas?" or do you mean american muslims? the answers have become convoluted. Now, I think the answer that Ramadan is a time of sacrifice and therefore not a holiday of celebration like Christmas is the best, the two are not related...one is a traditional Muslim ritual of sacrifice and devotion the other is a celebration of a certain faith's momentous event.

Well maybe if Christmas lasted more than 2 days they would too. The Muslims in prison are celebrating and practicing something that is a compulsion in the religion. Most of the people in prison celebrating Christmas are not even religious and don't even believe in Jesus or God so why should they get looked after specially when its not a religious holiday for them and just something they do every year without any thought of what the holiday is actually about.

Because Ramadan is a time to do away with excesses, and a time when fighting is not allowed in any way, muslims strive for a deeper connection with God. So their needs are simple - peace, quiet and a place to pray, as they only eat after sundown.
Unfortunately Christmas has become a time of excess, pigging out on large quantities of food and drink. So the prisioners needs here are a) more expensive,a nd b) they get more Rowdy. Simple practicality.

What evidence do you have to back up your question?
Additionally, Christians do not make sacrifices at Christmas as Moslems do at Ramadan.
Prisoners, of all religious beliefs or none, unless on special punishment, are allowed to celebrate Christmas. Prison Governors have the discretion to allow prisoners to receive gifts from friends and family, and all prisons serve a traditional Christmas dinner. There is also (in most cases) Christmas Day visiting, therefore to suggest that Moslems get "better looked after" is just another example of either racism or ignorance getting in the way of the facts.

Hypothetically, this may be due to the fact that during Ramadan, Muslims can't eat pizzas and drink coke from sunrise 'till sunset. They starve and dehydrate for 30 long days. But what do you base your assumed question/statement on? Either you're not muslim or that you've witnessed this yourself in jail? Because as far as I know, isn't America known to practice "Equality" amongst all?

Because during Ramadan Muslims don't eat sunup to sundown. My uncle works the prisons. They have to make sure they are taken care of because they don't need them passing out and injuring themselves during the day. Its not so much a religious preference thing its a safety issue

If they are treated better it's probably because of outside factors. There's at least one charity that specially looks after Muslim prisoners and quite a few people donate.
So that's probably the reason why - I don't think prison staff would deliborately treat Muslims better than Christians.

First of all, your facts are probably wrong. What evidence do you have that Muslims get better treatment? Second of all, if you are talking about Gitmo (Guantanimo Bay), the prisoners there were taken without due process, without access to legal counsel, without trial, without any end in sight, so you can't compare that mistreatment with any prisoner in Britian or the US.

You question seems very discriminative and wrong....Ramadan is a month when usually Muslims don't eat all day... maybe and British people are treated as well as the Muslims...but you put that question to believe is true ...non sense.
Don't do that ...it is not good if you re e religious.

Muslims don't eat all day during Ramadan, and they get the same treatment fasting Christians get during lint.
