because the text was altered by man

Qur'an is the only absolute truth

[15:9] We have, without doubt, sent down the message; and we will assuredly guard it (from corruption).

[4:82] Do they not consider the Quran (with care)? had it been from other than God, they would surely have found therein much discrepancy.

Christianity is based on the teachings of one text, however some people didn't believe in (lets say) as an example, they created Catholicism, then some Catholics didn't agree with , so they created Protestant, the same for Baptists, Presbyterian, Lutheran, etc. etc. It was a few people found more people to share in their beliefs that were different from what that denomination was teaching and broke off from there. They are all however under the umbrella of Christianity.

My church and I are actually non denominational and say so proudly.

God should be the focus, the teachings should be the focus, being Christ like and showing Christs love should be the focus.

Divide and Conquer, is one of the best tool of winning battles and the church's existence depends on us. You hear of the POPE, but every religion has one, he may not be called that but they have one. The CHURCH with it's carrot & stick approch has but so much confusion among the people that they no lonnger have personal value, but generalized value.
Anyone can be a christian, but not everyone can be a Catholic, Jewish, Muslum, sure they can convert if they can walk the walk and talk the talk, but in part it's to hard. So just be a Christian, if this type of christian church don't suit you find one that does, they the way of a Christian.

In the 60's & 70's the Catholic church did not call themselfs christians, they were forced to after all these smaller off the wall churches started poping up all over the place.

Its basically because of the human mind. Really, all the Bible translations say the same things (save for the NWT which was changed specifically to fit a doctrine) but man really wants things to be as HE believes. So when a man reads the Bible and he sees something in it he doesnt agree with or think is fair, usually in his mind he will twist it to mean something different. Its all a matter of self pride, we dont like to think we're wrong though some can accept it more than others.

It is not a one sentence faith, there are 66 books and obviously many interpretations. After you read something in the bible and run into a question in your mind about something that is where we get the many interpretations from others.

There is a right way and a erong way to read the bible.

If you read the bible and read it as it was God's word you will be on the right track. Read it any other way and you will not come to the right conclusion.

First and foremost, Jesus has warned the readers of the Bible and his listeners during his mission that he did not come to bring peace but division. The world did not listen to that and that is why up to now our prayers for peace in his name has not yet been answered. Obviously, as you observed the Christian religion is divided into so many denominations.
Second of all, Jesus warned his disciples and the readers of the Bible to " Watch out that you are not deceived. Many will come in my name (Jesus) and say that I am He.(The Christ) and will tell that the end is near. 'Do not follow them'." So, how many churches are there in the world carrying the name of Jesus and saying he is the Christ? Are they not saying that that end of the world is about to come? Did he not say also not to follow them? Did he not warn that these are the deceivers? Why are we doing the opposite of what he told us not to do?
Don't you think we should open our eyes already?

Because GOD is not into religion. Man is into religion.

Religion is based on the teachings and traditions of man. True Christianity is based on the teachings of GOD through the bible.
When the Holy Spirit and Bible are one then truth is the product.
When man and his teachings are honored then religion abounds. Truth is exponged and denominations exist.

For centuries being "Christian" only referred to one set of beliefs and practices because there was only one church. (Known today as the Roman Catholic Church.) As Christianity became widespread throughout the world and its power grew, the Church itself became corrupt. There was no other authority to put the Catholic Church in its place...they were the top dogs and even governments were subject to its laws. (This was long before the concept of separation of church and state.) People such as Martin Luther during the Middle Ages rebelled and started their own churches in response to what they saw. Luther's movement was known as the Protestant Reformation. From that point on Christianity was no longer one set religion controlled by the Pope and Rome.

There's much, much more reading you can do on this.

The "traditions of men" has divided the Church. I believe most Christian denominations believe in the basic tenets of true Christian faith. There are certain things that won't be known until later, I believe most of the differences are in this area.

Man divided beliefs and/or teachings. Thus more denominations.
