Your mom does love you, but an alcoholic's foremost thought is worrying about when they will have their next drink - it is a disease that makes them incapable of leading a normal life or having normal relationships with people. Your mom needs help, and the only way is if she CHOOSES to get help. Once she makes that decision she will need to face the challenging road ahead. It will always be a challenge for her to not drink, but she needs to make the right choice and get help! She should continue to go to meetings, even speak with a professional. Maybe she has not tried the right group yet, but you need to talk with her. She is your mom and you love her - and she is not only killing herself she is also in a way killing you, her own daughter. You need to tell her how you feel, make it known that you do not feel loved, and encourage her to get the help she needs. Her not being there for you does not mean she doesn't love you, but she has a problem and must try to get better.

I'm afraid it is the beer that is causing her to behave this way and until she is serious about wanting to get better there is nothing you can do to help her ( had a friend who was alcoholic she came out of rehab and with an hour had drunk half a bottle of vodka)but you can help yourself find your nearest AL-ANON or ALA-TEEN group they are there to support the families of alcoholics.

Hope this helps

I hope you live with your father. I think your momloves you. I am a mother it is impossible not to love your children. She just bad choices. Tell her that you love her but you just won't let yourself be treated this way and that you refuse to come visit if she continues to drink. Do call her though and try to help her any way you can to stay sober. Good luck.

Alateen is a great organization for you.
She can't help what she does or doesn't do.
You should not go there right now...
You need the meetings so that you can understand things a bit better and will not be blaming yourself for her behaviour. This has nothing to do with you... she is very sick...

My sympathy goes out to you as your mothers addiction rules. She needs help and what you can do only is get professional help for her or her getting such help herself.
