I'd like to know of a substance which is readily available, affordable, non-toxic, and which does not alter the flavor of food. Until just recently, I have been living alone. I use cheese, bacon, celery, frijoles and onions at such low rates that they go moldy on me before I have used them up. Is there something I can place in the storage container which will prevent mold without ruining the taste of the food?

In regard to bacon and beans you could divide them into smaller portions and freeze them. Buy cheese and celery in smaller amounts. Store onions out of the fridge until you use it. You can freeze onion, too.
