You can soften the body area first by aplying lotion atleast 5 minutes before shaving to the area you wish to shave. Also as an aftershave people would use alum powder to make the blood vessels smaller and reduce bleeding from the cuts

You can prevent the bumps by shaving with a fresh blade AFTER your bath or shower. This makes the skin subtle and the hair soft and shave with the growth of the hair. I have heard that adding a drop of hair gel to your shaving lotion will make for a smoothe shave. Couldn't hurt to try! Godloveya.

My friend told me that he uses mouthwash after he shaves "down there" and it works really well...I personally havent tried it, but he swares it works and does it everytime
