It's not so much overrated, as downright misunderstood. Anybody who thinks that Happiness means being continuously head over heels, wildly ghasping with the thrill of excitement, is bound to be disappointed. Happiness the way I believe in it, is being quietly contented, and enjoying the absence of anything seriously miserable in your life. It's not about having a ton of money so you can go and blow, and splurge on anything your mind takes a frivolous fancy to. But many of the elements involved in happiness don't just come by themselves. They require that person to actively organize his life in such a way that unnecessary miseries and misfortunes do not have a chance to raise their ugly head. If you do not regulate your finances, for example, so you don't get yourself into a mess of credit card, or other kind of debt, you will surely end up with a huge financial headache, and there's no way you can ever find happiness in that condition.
Do not put yourself around people who you know are making you just feel bad. Remove them from your personal space... or remove yourself from theirs. And I also think that the happiest people are the ones who truly recognise, and fully respect the simple blessings and comforts of life that they have, and most people don't even appreciate until one day they suddenly aren't there. Such things are so numerous that it would take me all day and yards of paper to list them.

I think that persons pretend to be happy all the time and so u seem them and u think "Well they seem really happy, why am I not that happy? " Would be easier if everybody acted the way the truly feel and stop pretending!

happiness isnt over rated, its wonderful. but too many people arent happy. and too many people pretend to be and too many people only feel a shadow of happiness.

if everyone was happy the world would be a better place.

Sorry...I don't agree. Happiness is important; after all what's the point of life if you can't be happy?

What is going so wrong in your life? Life is precious and allot of fun when you have things to be grateful for. You should consider getting out of the house.

It's not overrated at all...its why many people continue on...because they are happy, or desire to reach a state of happiness...

And thank you friend for posting...pessimists and 'downers' help those of us who are happy be more thankful that we've chosen to be so...
