So my question is why does the government call it a " illegal immigration problem" then? I guess it will take being one of the 12 casualties per day caused by illegal immigrants to get them "do gooder" Americans to wake up?

Even the most underdeveloped countries provide border security superior to what is happening in our southern border.
One good example is Mexico. It has good border control.
It is actually difficult to understand what is happening in this country,as far as border control, but some factors should be pointed out:

Wages and full benefits, including pension, health care, workman's comp insurance, etc, are becoming unaffordable to business owners. The insurance industry is fraudulent and liability is a major issue. We have more lawyers in this country than the entire rest of the world, with about 5% of the world's population.
Congress is largely controlled by the insurance industry, the American Trial Lawyers Association and many other special interest groups.
It came to a point where honesty is no longer profitable to many people.
Greed has become the law of the land and the Dollar the
Almighty God.
For those reasons, illegal immigration is being given a break.
Fast profits are being exchanged for slow economic and social collapse.

There have always been illegal immigrants in this country. And, for the record, not all of them are from Mexico (so let's get that out of the way now). Once again, our government believes in the theory of shrinking within our own borders and that's why the issue of illegals is on everybody's minds. This is an administration that thrives on hate--need proof, every since this ideal of illegal immigration has gotten attention, more and more people are looking down on Mexicans.
I'm sure, you wouldn't be so perturbed if the issue were womens' suffrage rather than illegal immigrants. What people need to marvel at is this....these immigrants are willing to do the jobs that no American is willing to do--and they tolerate our bulls**t as a result all because they're trying to provide a better life for their families.
If you were in their shoes, would YOU make the same sacrifice?
Is that really fair?

Some americans are stupid.

I dont have a problem with people coming to america who want a better life or want to work here; but do it the right way, all americans appreciate immigrants who legally live here and contribute to society.

the only problem with people coming here illegally is that it costs american taxpayers more money and from a national security standpoint we dont know who is in our country.

Illegal immigrants are people too and in such they cost are government money. the money goes to welfare, schools to educate their illegal children(or those who became default citizens) or to repair things that are used by ilegals as well as americans like roads.

if you care about American, Sept 11 was a very sad moment in you life. and despite the efforts of our government aggencies we weren't able to stop the attacks. Somehow illegal extremist arab terrorists came through our borders ,stayed in our country and killed many men, women and children with their hate. All i will say is if our borders are more secure, overall their is less of a chance of something this horrible happening again.

If you dont agree with that im ashamed to call you a fellow american and i hope you move to france.

This is a mixed bag. Put yourself in either situation and you have yourself a dilema! If I was in Mexico you best beleive I would try and fly over to the U.S.A. and I mean Over time. However being a minimum wage worker here in the U.S. I can say it's hard to have our market flood with incredibly cheap Labor. You also have to see the picture from the side of the rich corporate Job Masters. They are using this situation to exploit both the mexicans for thier cheap labor and to lower the wages of the Legal U.S. Workers so they can save more millions to thier hordes! I would say the real problem should be adressed and not just the symptom. We are having an overpopulation crises around the world. You can always say we have more land but than where else can our ecosystem live? We are already on the verge of running out of resources. This is a hard problem with difficult answers to accept. We all want to have children, but let's start having them with consideration. I have seen mexicans bragging that they have 12 kids and more. If they think this is cool than they can rot in mexico...but what about the kids? Is it thier fault thier parents lusted for ignorance? Consider our options carfully!

No one seems to realize that no other country in the world allows its borders to be breached in such a brazen fashion. The illegals who come here seem to think we, the people of America, nor the U.S. government, have any right to control our borders, or deport them. Where did that warped thinking come from? If they tried that on a Russian border, they would be shot, no questions asked. Perhaps we are being too kind to people who have taken our right of choice away? The majority of Americans don't want illegals here, and we don't have to explain why, do we?

i dont feel that there isnt a problem with illegal immigrants, from different countries, i do feel that the government often, and in this case,, tries to direct the publics attention away from certain problems towards another one.... there have been illegal immigrants for a long long time,,,,, why is the topic so poplular now?? is the problem really worse? when people in the past really started to voice concern about heath care in america,, suddenly the problem of people on welfare became an issue, getting people off the welfare roles, now when still the lack of health care and the "war" in iraq are issues , suddenly we have to do something about "those aliens"..... and why do we hear so much about Mexican illigals,,, when those from others lands, specifically the Middle East, most likely pose us more threat??

i would just say, in my life,,,, the lack of affordable and quality health care for all,,,, the war in Iraq,,,,the low minimum wage we have,,,,all concern me more and impact my life and community more,, then illegal aliens from Mexico,,,,,,,

Didn't follow your link and don't think you have enough direct experience with "illegal" immigrants to be able to make any valid judgments. I've been involved with immigrants, both kinds, from various countries during the last 30 years. You need to go out among the people you're fed up with and learn more about them.

First Washington needs to think we have a illegal immigration problem. Washingtons needs to enforce immigration laws, if they do that many will go back home, No job, No place to live, and can not get any help and all they will have left is to go home.

I was unable t bring up the site you mentioned, sorry.
America needs to wake up, and damn fast! Many seem to be looking at life with rose colored glasses.
They are unable to see what is being done to our country, from within.. good ol USA, open arms to everyone that wants to come in.. but what they fail to realize is that we do welcome those that want to come in - LEGALLY. I guess not many can comprehend the meaning of those two words - legal and illegal.
We all know that if something is not done about the situation, by the government - city - state and national, the people may take it upon themselves to correct the errors.

yeah. they must not speak English. it's AN " illegal immigration problem" because white people feel they are taking away from what americans have worked so hard to accomplish. they don't pay taxes (unless they acquire a TIN number, issued BY americans), and they have most privileges Americans have, except they really don't at all. the question is, who causes the other 11/12 casualties. is it legal immigrants like yourself?
