Increase in the world religions from 1934 to 1984. An article in Reader’s Digest ‘Almanac’, year book 1986, gave the statistics of the increase of percentage of the major religions of the world in half a century from 1934 to 1984. This article also appeared in ‘The Plain Truth’ magazine. At the top was Islam, which increased by 235%, and Christianity had increased only by 47%. May one ask, which war took place in this century which converted millions of people to Islam?

Islam is the fastest growing religion in America and Europe.
Today the fastest growing religion in America is Islam. The fastest growing religion in Europe in Islam. Which sword is forcing people in the West to accept Islam in such large numbers?

None are growing, they're all dying off as people become more intelligent.

Go back a thousand years or so and practically 100% of the world's population had a religious belief...they had no better way of explaining the mysteries of the universe.

Nowadays the number of people practising a religion are heavy in the minority.

So your question should perhaps be "Which religion of the world is dying off the slowest".....its probably one from the less scientifically advanced parts of the world.

I believe Islam is the fastest-growing religion in the world. In the US, Paganism (Wicca) and Islam are both growing very quickly, as are atheism and agnosticism.

Magazines are saying Christianity. The majority of answers will be that too.

BUT, I've noticed in the last five years that more and more people are becoming athiests. Or non-religious. They talk about science a lot too when you talk about religion.

I really believe that people in general are having doubts about god and show more interest in science.

And I'm a christian. (can't spell well)

Ive studied the subject.

According to Atlantic Magazine, its Christianty based on African growth.

Do a web search. Last time I did, all I found was a old 1996 CNN article which said "Islam was fastest growing". Thats ten years ago and it was a small article that never even cited where it got this. Remember, journalists are not sociologists or anything for that matter...they are supposed to report the work or events of others.

In the final analysis, theres no way to measure it. But, study the subject yourself. If you just

I think currently it is Islam. I think this is largley due to the christian assault upon the arab peoples. Many 'westeners' are becoming Muslim today. Muslim or not, they are losing alot of lives and be treated as less than christian. This can bring alot of converts out of compassion.
I am atheist and I would prefer non belief with a positive humanism be the most popular.

Well, it depends on who you ask. Also whether or not you define fastest growing by population growth, or conversion?

Scientologists claim that designation, Islam claims it ... and so does the Church of Latter Day Saints.

Take your pick.
