I've had good luck with Auto Trader type magazines. Be sure the car is CLEAN inside and out and have maintenance records.
Be honest when someone calls if you have any problems with the vehicle. People appreciate that and will be more willing to come out to look and give an offer.
Decide what is your bottom dollar and be prepared to have to deal.

Fastest? Carmax.... you'll get an offer within 30 min. But it'll only be for 50% of wholesale.

That depends on what type of money you want for it. If it were me and I could stand to sell it near wholesale, i'd take it to a local dealer, with a an edmunds.com appraisale in hand and sell it.

What kind of car? How much? Where at? That would help you sell it.
