They have been a part of the Navy since day one. I was on an amphibious ship while in the Navy and when we were deployed we carried Marines and a Seal Team everywhere we went. We made a few calls from time to time too, ruined somebodies day I am sure LOL

you should use spell check. it's disrespectful to not capitalize Marine Corps (or misspell it) and Navy. you should also learn history. the Marines have always been an intregal part of the Department of the Navy. A constant source of good-natured ribbing, Sailors have always reminded Marines that they are " a tiny little division of the Department of the Navy." Marines provide shipboard security aboard nuclear powered vessels, and are what i call the "point end" of the american military.

Marines have always been with the Navy, right back to the revolution. They were originally used as sharpshooters on ship's masts, or in boarding actions. They would also be dropped off along shore to raid, harass, and disrupt the enemy.
There aren't many close-quarters naval battles or boarding actions anymore, so nowadays the Marines have had to make up for that by becoming the best amphibious assault troops and heavy infantry in the world.

In 1775 the Continental Congress authorized the formation of two battalions of Marines to act as ship's security forces, as sharpshooters, and as forward deployed forces during amphibious engagements and raids.
Therefore the Marine Corps (please do not forget to capitalize it) has been a vital component of the US Navy since day one.

+ The Marine Corp started as a part of the Navy, then left. (I guess from Maltreatment and Neglect) Have DSS sue the Navy for Custody.
