Let me get this straight, you have a budget...and you're willing to spend a grand on a puppy along with several hundred in vet bills for the initial vaccinations, spaying or neutering, etc. Save yourself some money, and save a puppy from your local shelter! I'm sure they have plenty of small breed puppies, maybe even some with maltese in them. It's the better thing to do.

You've gotten some good answers. I'll only add two things:

Please don't buy from anyone who doesn't want to meet you and check you out. Good breeders want to know that their "fur babies" are going to good homes.

And... don't get a Maltese if you have children under 12 years of age. Many dogs have been killed because they can be too delicate for young children.

Maltese are wonderful. We presently have two... one from a breeder and one from Maltese Rescue.

Greetings from Brinkley, Rocky and our boy at the bridge: Charley.

See if you can rescue one! You have to pay a small rescue fee compared to a full price. You can also find dogs that are already house trained!

Many shelters have purebred dogs that need new homes.
Do you know that many dogs in shelters are purebred? Do you know that most of them are put down if they cannot find a home!

Here is how you can find a shelter near your home. Go to http://www.muttshack.org/find-a-dog-cat-bunny

Type in your zip code. It will show you all the shelters near your home. Then type in the type of pet and breed you want and see how many there are. When you click on a picture, it will give you all the information about the shelter! You can even e-mail it to yourself or a friend!

A miniature Maltese? No such element. a respected breeder promoting Maltese dogs for below $three hundred? No such element. Sorry, yet you do not seem able to arise with the money for a dogs. in case you may't arise with the money for the acquisition cost, how are you going to be able to arise with the money for each of the vet care and nutrition on your dogs? Please do not get a dogs. no longer yet, besides. Wait till you're one hundred% effective you may arise with the money for a dogs. Sorry.

I just bought 2 maltese puppies for $700 each.

My friend got one for about $500
the best way is to watch your newspaper.

You might have to drive a ways to pick one up. I had to go to the next city.

I love this breed. I have 3 of them now.

Oh also be careful, there are online scams with selling dogs. Dont ever mail anyone money for a dog. Pay when you pick him up in person.
