I belong to a culture that relegated to the slums of America
I belong to a culture that was told there are no jobs for your type.
I belong to a culture that was forced to starve while the racist invaders kept our food for themselves.
But my culture rose above that and became the leaders of our adopted country.
I have an Irish heritage but I am not Irish-American, I am American and proud of it
America!! Love it or Leave it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty much, stereotypes make the solution to the problem more difficult. Media never mentions the other side of the migration story. Lou Dobbs, and Tercedos should be ashamed of them shelves because their ancestors probably didn't know a word of English, and pro badly were selling moonshine. We need reform of immigration laws???? It takes legally 18 years at times to get permanant residency because goverment loses paperwork, and the system is not str8 forward. We need to know who comes in the country, Yes. Yet, we should be providing legal channels for migrants to get a job if they want one. The numberr of Visa allowed is a joke doesnt match supply and demand. Turning a country into a private country club only been around since the 1920s before 1929 we never guarded the border there was no need because people came and went.

There is always going to be dumb people out there that are mis informed. When I was younger the media made me think that sterotypes where true. Blacks commet crimes, mexicians are slow, all white people are corny, asians are smart.
I went to a very diverse public school system when I moved to south florida, and learned how life really is.
The same thing is happing to many people now with the illegal debate.
My feelins are that Big business wants to have Illegals here so the can pay them very little. But this is where you have the problem the illegals end up living in poor conditions and then turn to crime more often as a form of survival. This keeps the mexican american population down.
Legel mexician americians can advance in america and left them selfs up.

The only things that may be considered negative that are heard here from non mexicans about legal mexicans are:
(1) They need to start learning English if they want to live here.
(2) They breed like rabbits.
I agree with the first statement.
The second statement...seems to be more true for Mexican Americans than any other race here. That is not to say that there aren't plenty of non mexicans who don't breed like rabbits. Neither is it to say that there aren't Mexican American couples who never have children.
I hear these things said in my city about Mexican Americans, but not too terribly much. And I used to drive taxi, so I heard many people of all colors babbling about everything under the sun all day, every day.
I don't hear too much of what you call bad talk, and some of it is warranted. So my answer is NO.

I've not heard anything bad about LEGAL Mexicans. I guess some of the skinheads, punks and teens might be bad mouthing but that is just because they feel a need to blame anyone for their life except themselves.
I live in a border state and most people appreciate the sacrifices and efforts made by the legals to be legal. We resent the hell out of the illegals. Especially those that feel we owe them a livelihood and full services of our institutions.

i'm a criminal immigrant and that i'm yet another of those ones it really is adverse to unlawful immigration because it really is a slap interior the face to myself and my family individuals. We spent numerous months residing in separate international locations and paid 1000's of bucks to do it the right way. Now, we ought to toe the line, stay regulation-abiding lives and be responsible for ourselves at the same time as tens of millions of others see themselves as above the regulation. They sneak interior the again door and demand rights that i'm properly conscious i'm no longer entitled to and am completely comfortable with. To me, it would not count number the position they arrive from. Illegals and overstayers come from each race, way of life and united states conceivable. yet I imagine that if I were Mexican, i should be extra offended at those who drag the attractiveness of my finished way of life down with them.

I ahve not HEARD anyone talk bad about LEGAL American Citizens of Mexican ancestry. I might add a hyphenated American (Mexican-AMerican, German-American, Irish-American) is NOT an American. I do not use the hyphen before American.
"There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all. ... The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic. ... There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else."
President Theodore Roosevelt, October 1915

Yes, I agree with you 100% the anti-Mexican wave has got to end. When will this country learn to truly treat all men (and women, and children) equally regardless of their race or religion? We can not tolerate any form of racism. Look at half of these answers, what a joke that there is only negativity against illegal Mexicans. Read what Sievocal wrote!!

Nope, Doesn't apply to me. Others would agree that other groups have their problems as well, perhaps in a lot of ways worse. Feel grateful for the good you have. No matter who you are you'll never have the whole world liking you. Someone always wants to hate you but the trick is to surround yourself with that which is a positive influence to you.

I do not agree that people are being mean to legal mexican-americans. They have every right an american does because they became a part of our country. No one should say them nasty things to them they have a right to be here. The ones getting nasty remarks to are the ones who are not legal they are immigrants trespassing on our territory. I agree with your statement.
I hope i helped everyone out.
Good luck on trying to get this point across!
