I also have dry skin and it may feel gross but vaseline really does work. Try that.

Thank You :-)

Throw away the chap stick, honey! First I would tell you to exfoliate your skin with your next shower/bath. You can use table sugar with raw oatmeal in a wash cloth. This will take the dead skin off of your body an the oatmeal is gentle for cleansing. If you're going to shave, do it now. When you get out of the bath, pat your skin dry and IMMEDIATELY apply a good lotion. Coco butter is good. Let it absorb for a few minutes. Now cover your hands, feet, cuticles and elbows and lips with vasaline. Put on socks. The trick is moisturizing immediately after your bath because the hot water will wash most of your body oils away. Exfoliate at least once a week. I use a buff-puff on my face. Use the vasiline instead of chap stick and I promise you your skin will look fresh in a few days. Also, up your fluids. Water, water, water! It plumps up the skin cells. No sodas, cut the junk and the sugar. You're going to look lovely! Godloveya.

I have extremely dry skin due to some medicine I take.

One thing that has helped is not taking hot showers. Try taking a warm shower or even a cold one if you can take it. Hot water just promotes more dry skin.

Obviously itching it or rubbing it is going to make it worse as well.

If it is very severe, of course go see a doctor, there are a few different steriod creams you can get over the counter as well that hhelp.

Good Luck!

Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and use a face pack of ripe bananas and honey. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for dry skin at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/dryskin.html
