You still pass out cigars, I think. At least that is all I have ever heard of people passing out. (Whatever the baby's sex, however, don't smoke it in front of the baby!).
When my nephew was born, the hospital sold bubblegum cigars. Boys had blue ones, and girls had pink ones.
That said, there is nothing wrong with passing out something else. The point of the cigars is to celebrate.

When you have a baby boy you pass out cigars and when you have a baby girl you pass out chocolates or sweet candies.
