Harmful-- Food taboos. 'Hot 'and 'cold' foods to be avoided in a particular season or illness, or by pregnant or nursing mothers.
Healthful-- 4o days' confinement of a new mother in her mother's house, where she is well looked after and fed.
Healthful-- Breast feeding. Wet nursing if the mother dies.
Harmful-- Swaddling an infant.
Healthful--- Infants and young children sleeping in the same room as the mother.
Harmful--- Feeding butter or clarified butter to a neonate.
Harmful-- Applying antimony or cow dung to the umbilical stump.
Harmful-- Applying antimony to children's eyes.
Healthful-- Massaging an infant with oil.
Healthful--- Old parents living with their children and being looked after.
