Americans come from every country on Earth. That is why we are so great!
Most Americans are of European descent. In the South, you will find many of German, Irish, and England descent. There are also many of African descent, because the South used to have African slaves. There are also many of Native American/Spanish descent.
In the north, you will find much more diverstity. Every European country can be found in the Northern and Western regions. Throughout America, you will find many of Asian and Middle Eastern as well. America is a very deverse place!

The ancestry of people in this country is varied and more than likely made up of a portion of most all of the kinds of people that exist. The reasons are numerous. Some came as conquerors, for this land was wild and assumed uninhabited. To others a place to colonize. Some people wanted religious freedom ,others saw the possibility of a better life and financial prosperity. The persecuted wanted just laws and protection, a country were the people could make there own laws, all kinds and nationalities immigrated, some were even brought here to be slaves. There is such diversity in our country it is impossible to say that any one ethnic group is any better or worse than any other. Lastly let it be known that the real Americans at the beginning where already here.

Everywhere. Americans represent practically every possible ethnicities present on the earth. Also, Mexicans are descendants, typically, of the Spanish and Native Americans, Canadians can also be descended from the French, Quebec is a large part of the country. But those countries would also represent similar the same hodgepodge of ethnicities, just to a smaller scale. There's really no ethnicity would encompass even a majority of the American people, we're mostly mutts.

The ancestry of Mexicans is mixed native people, and Europeans, primarily Spanish speaking. Canadians are mixed Europeans, with large percentage French in Quebec. Americans are mixed heritage from all over the globe. There was heavy influx of Scots/Irish in the late 1800s and heavy influx of Italians in the early to mid 20th century. Germans have been well represented over time, also. Of course, the Europeans forceably immigrated many Africans over the first few centuries of European domination, also. Let's not forget the Asian culture, present in every large US city, and being instrumental in the founding and development of California in the 19th century.
This country is a beautiful tapestry of input from all corners of the globe. Without any one of the threads of ancestry, it would not be the same.

There are the native peoples...and just that alone includes hundreds of tribes.
America is a melting pot...some people are mixed, some people are pure...but all, except the natives, are from somewhere else. Most of the earlier settlers in the US region of North America were of British and European ethnicity. So there tends to be quite a bit of people in this country with at least SOME of any of these: English, Scottish, Irish, French, German, etc.
I myself am mixed...native american indian (Cherokee) and caucasian (Swedish, Yugoslav, Scottish, Dutch, French, etc).

American people...we are all "MUTTS". We are all mostly a Heinz 57 group of people from many different ancesteral roots.
I heard it said that no American whose family has been in the U.S. for over 4 generations is free from Native American (Indian) blood. In the war against Native Americans, the Europeans raped many Native women to hurt their chances of reproduction. The result was that a lot of half breeds were born and because the Native race was being quickly defeated, the half breed babies passed as white, married white and had children who only had traces of Native blood.
As a result, most Americans have some traces of Native American Blood. It is often denied in family geneologies as the rapes were often denied and magically disappeared from family trees. Most white people come predominately from Europe, blacks predominately from Africa and Asian primarily from Asia. We blend all of these races in the United States...
A melting pot or a salad bowl...whatever you want to call it. Traces of Native American influence is a common thread in most long term Americans.
Incidently, most Canadians have French roots.

To quote Bill Murray's character from the movie "Stripes",
"Our forefathers got kicked-out of every decent country on Earth.
We're mutts!"
Members of my family have been studying our genealogy for decades. I have ancestors from 11 different countries, my kids from 13 as their mother had 2 more.
This diversity is what has made our country so strong. Our culture, our foods, our genetic background has taken the best from everywhere on Earth. Some nations, such as South Korea, take great pride in their "pure" lineage. I believe just the opposite.

I am going to assume you are speaking of Native Americans (they are not Indians). And mind you, we are not just talking of the United States of America, we are talking about the entire continent of North America. There were hundres of tribes and thousands of families, so who were their ancestors and where did they come from? Spanish conquistodors were here way before Columbus and his Spanish fleet. That's where your Aztec warriors come from. But if there were natives already here who were they?
It is newly scientific research that suggests they were of Arabian, Mongolian, and Chinese descent. But how? The pangean theory is closely related to the story of the destructioin of the ancient Babylonian Empire in my opinion. I believe it is possible that God in his fury ripped apart the Earth and scattered the people to and fro.

America is typically an immigrant country therefore i don't think you can pin it down to one nation when trying to determine their ancestry
