this morning, i went and got a test and it was positive. i am on medication since this afternoon, but strep is contagious for 24 hours. i am supposed to go to a friend's bat mitzvah tonight. i really want to go, but don't want to get everyone sick. i haven't been feeling well for 3 days so i thought that if people were going to catch it, they already would have. do you think i should go to the party if i am careful not to cough on anyone, share drinks, etc.?

You should not go to the bat mitzvah. I understand that you really want to go, but you are contagious and strep can be spread just by talking, laughing, coughing around other people. Stay home and spare everyone else.

No... if you have strep then you should stay home. Even if you cough once it's enough to spread those germs into the air and get others infected. If I were you I would stay at home with a nice cup of hot tea and a comfy blanket and either watch something on TV or get some rest.

I personally think you should stay home. Just think of someone's grandmother catching this disease; it might kill an older person. Do everyone a favor, do the considerate thing and stay home, dear! They love you, but they will understand and they don't want your strep! Take care. Godloveya.

you could go to the doctor. . .or, bed rest for three days, gargle salt water and drink fluids, and eat condensed soup.

Don't go! It is very contagious.
