A dog of another breed is usually your best bet. A Chihuahua makes a fine second dog as most larger dogs fail to see smaller breeds as threats to their dominance or their master's affection.

I would get your greyhound another greyhound , but make sure you introduce them first to see If they get along with each other, as like humans all dogs do not get along and you would not want that.
greyhounds become available for adoption each year Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) aims to find responsible caring and loving permanent homes for these greyhounds.
All GAP greyhounds are Temperament Tested, Sterilised, C5 Vaccinated, Wormed, Micro Chipped and come with a lead, collar, muzzle and plenty of support from GAP.
Gaps number is 0408 883 669 and ask for kerry
give them a call and they will help you out

A chi is not a great idea. If your grey has ANY prey drive, a chi would be toast. I've heard TOOOOO many horror stories about even 'no prey drive' greys snapping and gutting little dogs and cats.
Go with another grey, unless you are 100% sure that your current grey would be ok. And even then, never allow the grey and a small animal to be alone together. Again, even those who have 'always been fine' can suddenly decide that another dog or cat looks like lunch.

Our great dane and our 12" beagle are the best of friends. I don't think size matters as long as they get along. They dispositions are what counts. I would suggest taking your greyhound along to meet any dog that you were thinking our adding to your family.

Get whichever you want (although I'm sure your GH would appreciate anothe GH). He will not see another dog of any breed as prey. They can tell the difference between a dog and a cat or rabbit.
I have Whippets and they have never mistook my Crested for anything other than another dog.

If you really want a chihuahua, get one. They have big dog attitude in little dog body, so may end up being top dog.

Regardless of the breed, get one of the opposite sex (and have it spayed or neutered). Two dogs of the same sex are more likely to fight than two of the opposite sex.
