you need to see a gastroenterologist. Contrary to what many of these reponders say, about 1/2 of people with Hepatitis C can be cured. The treatment however is difficult and takes almost a full year to cure.

There is a treatment protocol of weekly pegylated interferon shots and daily ribavirin pills. You have a 50 -80% of becoming a sustained responder depending on what genotype of Hep C you have. Genotype 1 has a 50-57% chance of SVR (sustained virological response- which means remaining undetectable more than 6 month after stopping treatment); genotypes 2 & 3 have an 80% chance of SVR. There are side effects, as this is a MILD form of chemotherapy, but the side effects can be managed by drinking plenty of water, having a positive attitude, and additional medication if needed. If you don't have insurance, the pharmaceutical companies have patient assistance programs that can help you get the drugs for free or very cheap.
I went through the treatment 6 years ago and have been cleared of the virus since then. I feel better and as long I don't re-expose myself to any transmission risk factors, I will stay HCV free for the rest of my life. Joining a local support group really helped educate me on the disease and the issues you deal with when you have Hep c. I would suggest you try to find a good local support group. Best wishes to you.

My brother was recently diagnosed and was referred to a nephrologist. He is going to be starting chemotherapy soon. His doctor told him that there are 6 different levels of this disease, and that depending on the level it is possible to completely eradicate it, or at least put it in remission. Don't put off going to a doctor.

Sorry you have this disease; there is no cure. And the treatment is extremely debilitating and makes you sick as a dog. You should be seeing a liver specialist and keeping your nutritional level up. Please educate yourself. Godloveya.

You can't. It's forever.
Unless you get a new liver.
