The longer you marinate the better. I would put 12 hours as the absolute minimum. 24 hours is more in the acceptable range. Most people don't have 2 or 3 days to marinate meat but that is where you really get the flavor in there.

You can certainly start a marinade now, as long as it does not contain pineapple juice (which has enzymes that turn things into mush). London broil is a fairly tough cut, it can be marinated as long as the day before cooking, no problem. Just turn meat every couple of hours to ensure equal distribution. Or, if you put it into a zip top plastic bag and get most of the air out prior to sealing, that is not really necessary. Happy cooking!

Wait a bit. Toss it in a ziplock tonight around 8 or 9, and whack it in the fridge, and let it marinate overnight. Or at least before bedtime tonight.
It'll be really flavorful by morning. Drink a lot of beer. The Raiders are going down. Doesn't matter which team they're playing. *grin*

Generally speaking, the longer you marinate, the more "flavor" it will adsorb. And depending on the marinade, the more tender it will be. However, most cookbooks will tell you marinating for 30 to 60 minutes is fine.

Depends on what type marinade you use, a soy base is going to make it really salty tasting if you marinade to long, a hot sauce vinegar base will over-power the flavor of the meat. My opinion, throw it together in the morning, put your onions and peppers in there too
