Judging by your pic, you have very dark hair. Whaen you try to die dark hair it is difficult to get to come out right. If you are going to dye your hair a reddish color and your hair is currently black, odds are that you wont be able to see the new color very well. I suggest that you bleach your hair first, than dye it. But you also have to be carefull because your hair can get extreamly damaged. I think that whatever you do you should go to a proffesional, but youcan always try to do it yourself. Just when you bleach your hair, make sure not to leave it in too long. If you have any other q's, just email me. Hope I was some help

I have dyed my hair every color under the rainbow and no it will not come out the same. If you dye the blonde hair red it will be more vibrant and actually show the red hair color. Black hair will just get a tint and pretty much once you dye your hair black you are stuck with it till you bleach it which isn't advisable till 6-8 weeks after you have dyed your hair black. Make sure that you always wait at least 4 weeks in between hair dyes. It dries your hair out alot, and never wash your hair with shampoo the day you dye your hair only conditioner.

red doesn't show up on black hair unless you bleach it first. red shows up on blond hair just fine. Now... red permanent hair dye will lift dark hair provided it isn't tinted dark because tint doesn't lift tint. There are new permanent colors that claim to lift level 2 color, that is dark brown, to a level 4 which will be very red. I have to see it to believe it. But making blond hair, level 9 or 10, a level 4 red is easy with any brand of permanent color. I always bleach very dark hair in order to get it very red. At least a few highlights first. Level 1 is black and level 10 is very light blond. most reds are levels 4,5, or 6. Level 7 is reddish blond, 8 is strawberry blond.

It'll be different. People with black hair will first need to lift their natural color (aka bleaching), and only then can the red be applied to the bleached hair. Otherwise, it won't show up. Bleaching's harsh on your hair, though, and red is known for being a hard color to keep. (And this should only be done by an experienced hair colorist.... soooo many things can go wrong doing it yourself!)

I recommend one of those temporary colored hair gels/creams, like Manic Panic. They give a bold color without permanently changing your hair color, so you can at least play around with the color and see if you like it. You can apply all over or as highlights.

Good luck!

Think of dyeing your hair, like painting. You can apply any color onto a white canvas, and it will be the true color, but if you try to put that same color on brown or black, you won't see the color as much.

Yes, you have to consider the base color you are applying the color to. There are other determining factors as the condition and porosity of the hair.
