Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.
In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.
Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.
In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.
If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

You are 16, your hormones are fluctuating. Acne is a side effect of this. you could try an exfoliant scrub, followed by a moisturising cream. However, be warned that the exfoliant will bring any acne to the surface the first few times you use it, and your face will look worse for a few days, so I suggest you start this regime when you have 4 or 5 days away from school. use the exfoliant 2 x a week, and the moisturiser after every time you wash your face. it should help. i know itsounds dumb, but find out what kind of facial moisturiser your mom is using, and get the same kind, if its not too expensive. or try using a baby lotion as moisturiser.

try a herbal remedy....it ain't gonna taste nice but it will help...
another thing you could try is going on a detox...it will clear your system of toxins which is a major cause of spots and it will make you feel great...make sure you look into more details about a detox before trying one though....
i know that some salons actually do this deep cleansing facial which i have heard is apparently really good....you go for several appointments and the sort of scrub your skin with a toothbrush (i know it sounds weird lol) and they give you certain creams to use inbetween appointments...it worked for two of my mates so you could go and enquire about it too...
the last bet you have is to simply wait until you grow out of spots and acne....i know that may sound long but hey!

this is all to do with hormones m8. as you grow older and change from a boy to a man there are certain changes that your body have to deal with untill they get used to these changes. acne is like one of the side effects of this. its only a question of time till they disapear by them selves. but its important to in the mean time to keep clean and healthy to speed up the process. A VERY GOOD THING TO USE IS (TEA TREE OIL). ALY THIS TO YOUR FACE EVERY NIGHT BEFORE GOING TO SLEEP IT RELI HELPS

Try using natural stuff, rather than all those chemicals in the over-the-counter, as well as prescription treatment.
I would suggest trying Burt's Bees product line, as it is all natural. Also, be careful, as washing your face too much removes its natural oils, which isn't good for your skin. While many try to argue this, they are simply wrong.

Best thing I've found is IPA hand gel. (Isopropyl Alcohol) Used mainly in the medical sector for hand cleaning (doctors / dentists / vets) it's also got moisturisers in it so won't dry your skin. Works absolute wonders at controling skin oil & bacterial infections.
I buy it in 5 litre containers for about £20 - search online for medical suppliers & wholesalers.

I think you should see a dermatologist. Also exercising helps too! Have you tried Pro-Active? Zeno? And maybe it's because your not done growing, and your hormones are still mixed up. I try stuff and every once and I while I have thousands of black-heads but it will go away once your hormones are done!
