I'm not religious and my take on this is - If you don't believe in God, how can you believe in Hell?
Surely if you are a good person and respect others then that is better than being a God fearing person who may harm others yet by confessing their sins to God feel that allows them entry into heaven? Sounds like a cop out to me. Humans make mistakes - thats what we mean when we say we're only human. If after your first mistake your damned to hell then you wouldn't have many religious followers would you? Easiest way round that is to allow people to make mistakes and then "clean" the slate for them to keep them in line.
Be good, be yourself and let others worry about their own sins to mankind. Or to quote someone famous "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

As A Seventh Day Adventist Christian let me tell you what God came to do, I will redo John 3:16 & 14:15, "For God [The Father] "SO" Loved you that He Gave [Jesus the second member of The Godhead gave Himself] that IF you will BE-LIVE in Him should not perish but have everlasting life, and IF you are BE-LIVING in Him and Love Him keep His commandments, IF you decide not to accept the conditions upon which live is offered then you choose death, but PRAISE GOD it IS your choice, you live in a world that everone dies in, the reason you were offered The Way out is because of LOVE and IF you accept and LOVE Him you WILL NOT die, but it is your choice, find out more www.itiswritten.com hay visit our church on sabbath, which is satuday hay sunday the first day of the week is NEVER called the sabbath or holy IN ALL the bible, God bless, bible questions www.bibleinfo.com EMAIL me also wgr88@yahoo.com God bless

No I don't believe so either, It's when you do believe in God and decided to do the opposite of what you believe you are suppose to do. Babies and children don't know no better either and I pretty sure they will not go to Hell. Basically your just like a child/baby, you know no better.

No you won't.
If you don't believe there's a god, then you don't believe there's a hell.
If there isn't a hell, you can possibly go there can you??
With all due respect to your father, I think he is rather uneducated and should not be filling a child's head with superstitious mumbo-jumbo.
No doubt you love your dad, but please don't believe everything everyone tells you...even him.
Learn to think for yourself and ask questions...

I am going to get a ton of thumbs down here, but oh well...Get a Holy Bible, go to John; Chapter 3 verse 16. Then tell your father to take you to a Bible study class as well. He should have explained this to you and had you involved with church long before you could type on a computer!!!!!

I find it strange that a person that doesn't believe in God would be here posing this question. You either believe in God a heaven and a hell......or you don't. Game Over

My dear, there is no such place as "hell", so please do not torture yourself with such questions. No, you will not go to "hell", no matter what you believe about God. Stories about "hell" were propegated by the early Catholic Church for the purpose of controlling people to give their money and goods to the church, and to control their behaviors for the economic benefit of said church. Obviously, it still goes on today.
There was no place called "hell" with fire and brimstone and knashing of teeth and other assorted rubbish until the artist Dante painted the famous picture "Inferno" which pictured this nonsense and scared silly a population of ignorant people, most of whom could not even read nor write. The Catholic Church of the time capitalized upon this fear to the max. Certainly Jesus never said there was such a place. In Christian scripture Jesus made reference to a place outside the city where trash was burned and it has been sadly misunderstood.
Your father is probably trying to pass on to you what he was himself taught by well-meaning people from his earliest rememberings. This stuff gets into people's heads, especially if it starts early enough! Just use your common sense in matters like this. Would a loving God really let people go to such a place - even if it existed - often because of technicalities? People who believe things like this are often very adept at rationalizing their position with "scripture". (I see a ton of it in the "answers" above mine!) There will be no winning an argument like this. Better to avoid them. If a loving God made you and gave you a brain and the ability to think and reason, would this same God send you to "hell" because it honestly didn't make sense to you?
Please don't be scared about such things. When you are young you want to believe things your parents tell you - it often seems right to do so. Not only that but we usually want very much to please our parents. Your father probably has his own serious fears about what happens after we die no matter how convicted he may seem to you. Your dad does not have a monopoly on knowing the real story on this subject - what happens after we die can only be guessed. There is no one alive who reallly can know, no matter what their religion.
When I was young I also had parents like your father. I believed what they told me including that "hell" existed and I had better watch out. As I grew older and was better able to think for myself I decided that my own common sense would simply not allow me to believe in such fairy tales designed to control people. Even a sophomoric study of the history of Christian religion quickly dispels myths like this. Relax! Life is hard enough.

Do the studies. Actively research Plato, Kant, Descartes and Hume.
As far as your belief, I cannot shy away from it. I won't judge you either. If you read anything in the bible, read Romans. the beginning chapters say that if you weren't exposed to Christianity, you won't be judged by its laws.
