If you think of all the persecution going on in other parts of the world, I would say that American christians have no idea what persecution is.

In certain respects, yes, as the label of so-called "fundies" are smeared over all Christian groups. Most pentecostal groups, Lutherans and Evangelists are hurt by stereotypes that apply to a small minority of Christians.

This effect is seen in many different groups, not exclusively for Christians.

But at the extent of the bias that has become organized argument antagonizing Christianity in the form of the alternative histories of the Church shown in the Da Vinci Code, and debating whether Jesus existed shows a serious deficiency in the political and historial arena of thought and discussion.

This organized bias aims at spreading propaganda to prevent citizens from truthfully understanding Christianity and its precedents. It's persecution, because no one ever sees eye to eye. Evangelist Christians in America will always be seen as hateful moguls, regardless of their being the frontrunners in the Katrina fund, AIDS reform efforts in Africa and India, and Global charities.

Everyone gets persecuted in america for something. Christians persecute Pagans and Muslims. Airports target arabic people as terrorist threats. Mexicans get persecuted for simply being mexican sometimes. Christians feel everyone is persecuting them because more and more people are starting to believe in freedom of religion, and saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas." If you live in america, you're going to get persecuted or targeted for something.

I don't think so, but it would depend on your definition of persection. Certainly not in the manner the Jewish people were persecuted, as in the Holocaust.

There will always be opposition to other beliefs, but I don't define that as persecution.

Haha, Billie nailed it. How many atheist channels do you see on TV? Hell, how many Muslim or Buddhist channels do you see on TV?

The reason Christians want to think they're being persecuted is because they interpret that as proof that Jesus is coming back, or something to that effect. But come on, they're not even close to being persecuted. ESPECIALLY in this country.

To a point. We all suffer to some degree for our faith, and it is continually attacked. But, we fare far better than those in other parts of the world.

We don't hear of many people in America being tortured and killed for professing Christ, but martyrdom is alive and well on the northern African continent & many places in the East.

No. I firmly believe Christians think they are being "persecuted" because they aren't the state government.

It all depends on where you live in America. In one place atheists are being persecuted(my friend can tell you that one,he lived in the glorious Mormon state).Where I live,as long as you don't broadcast and act annoying, then you are good to go.

In that sense yes, Christianity is under constant assault. But why? What did we ever do?

The problem is liberalism. Part of it is this social equality liberals believe in. America is the greatest nation in the world? It must be EVIL. Business people have a lot of money? They must be evil. Christianity is so dominant in our culture, IT must be evil! Liberalism is about rejecting anything that seems to get to big to ensure this tyrannical form of "equality."

So what do they do? Slam america every chence they get including Jimmy Carter and our liberal media. Tax the rich and businesses to DEATH to redistribute income. And with Jesus, tear at it until it becomes as small and ordinary as everything else. (even if it is the truth)
