I decided to ask this based on the many questions that people have posted on here about how illegals should stay in their country to better it.I am soon to graduate from law school and I commented to a few friends how I would enjoy returning back to Mexico where most of my family is and get certified there to practice law in that country.I already looked into the requirements i would need to fill in order to accomplish that, but needless to say the response wasn't what i expected. Many of my friends said i would be considered a traitor to this country if i did that.which is confusing considering i would be using what i have learned so far to perhaps better the lives of a few people in another country.how is that being a traitor to this country? please try and keep the insults to a minimum.

We are a free society with a global economy. So no, that is not any definition of 'traitor' that I can think of.
You would be an ILLEGAL if you went someone else's country without legal paperwork; and you certainly wouldn't be able to work there without being thrown in jail.
If you go through the proper channels, you should and can work anywhere in the world. As a US citizen, you will still have to file a US tax return and pay US taxes on your income - so you are still contributing to this country even though you are living abroad.

How could you be considered a traitor, to go back to your homeland. You could be an asset to all of us, by making sure people learn of the US as a place where education is possible for all. Have you ever considered applying for a job at the American Embassy in Mexico, you would be an asset, since your knowledge of the language and cultur is great. As a Law School Graduate you do great and you would help the people in the US as much as you would help the people in Mexico.

I wouldn't consider it an insult to this nation. If Mexico is where you would rather be then go there .I'm sure your skill could be able to help people with the unfair Mexican government. You must go where you feel your future lies and where you feel the best about what you are doing.
If you acquired school loans here in this country I'm sure you would still pay them off am I correct? I see nothing wrong with your going back to Mexico if that's your wish.

I just do not understand certain aspects of your question.
If mexico is so good why did you feel compelled to get your education in the United States?
You took American law, how is that going to help you in a lawless country like mexico, where it seems the loser of an democratic election can stil proclaim himself the the president?
Why not put your education to good use and try to help the legal immigrants in the United States?

No why would anyone think that.
In the USA we have the freedom to live where we want
Legally immigrate to where ever you wish and more power to you
I think it is a breath of fresh air that an anti-America American would not be the usual hypocrite and move to where they think is better instead of just whining and badmouthing America
You could maybe list why Mexico would be better for you or anyone else and talk others into joining you
I commend your courage
Have a safe trip
see Ya

No. That's just dumb. Now if you worked or assisted the Mexican gov't then maybe they'd have an argument to stand on. Even then I wouldn't think you would be, assuming you stuck to domestic affairs.
As someone else noted, there are millions upon millions of expat workers out there.
I moved to South Korea for a couple years after college. No one has ever accused me of being a traitor.

I don't think where you decide to live or work makes you a traitor. America has a huge number of citizens that live, work and travel in other countries. Good Luck.

There are countless Americans living and working abroad which does not qualify them as traitors. I question some of your friendships with people who would say that to you!!

lets see doctors without borders would be a prime example
of course not ,a traitor is one that brings harm or ill way to his home country, just because you choose to relocate is no indication of this, as a american indian i ask you was it correct for the european countries to settle here?
i say enjoy your freedom and live your life to it's fulliest to deny yourself this is the worse pain you shall ever endure

Well, they shouldn't be considered as traitors. There are many people who want to come in the U.S and are proud to be Americans.
