For a good wine, avoid white zin or white Merlot. Many people I know like these and that is fine, but from a wine connoisseur's perspective, they are not in any respect considered a good wine.

Consider a moderately priced Red Zinfandel, a Cabernet Sauvignon, or a Shiraz. Some good reasonably priced brands are Lindeman's (Australian), Rosemount Cellars (Australian), or Kendell Jackson (California). You can get good bottles from these labels ranging from $9-$18.

First, don't ever bring white zinfandel like someone else said unless you're going to a party with women who don't know anything about decent wine.

Go with a merlot because it's light and can go with any kind of food. If you don't care about matching it to food, bring a chardonnay for people who aren't into wine and a cabernet if they are.

The pricing depends on how rich your friends are. Ask the store clerk for recommendations in your price range.

red wine is the most preferred.....clos de bois or something along the lines of that....usually the older the wine the better tasting...i would get something around 2002-2003.....a $18 bottle is considered expensive for red wine. so 12-13 dollars is median.

White Zinfindale, but it also depends on whats being served, Zinfindale would be for a medium-light dinner. A red wine for a larger course meal.

You can't miss with a moderately priced Austrailian Merlot.
It goes with anything guaranteed.
