Does it mean just 'Star' in Arabic or is there a deeper meaning ?
Many people told me Nijma means star but one person said that Nijma means 'One star' .... I think there is a deep philosophical difference between 'star' and 'one star' Can anyone who knows the roots of Arabic help me with this ?

najm means 'star', as does najma (people in Syria and Lebanon would tend to say nejma, which is where your Nijma comes from, I think: remember that there's no fixed way of writing Arabic in English letters). It is - or was - also the name of a plant. And is a girl's name, of course.
An -a is often is added to make a group noun singular (baqar='cattle', barara='a cow/one cow'; jibn='cheese', jibna='a cheese'/one cheese). But I don't think it means that with najma, since najm is not a group noun but itself means 'a star'. Indeed, Hans Wehr in his dictionary of Arabic gives najm (plural nujuum) and najma (plural najamaat) as two separate words, both meaning 'star'.
So Nijma as a name means 'star', not 'one star'. If you were to write najma as a word in a sentence, it would mean 'a star', while an-najma (for al-najma) would be 'the star'. And, yes, najma can mean 'movie star' as well as 'star in the sky'.

Haha no. All it means is star. Yes it is arabic. Well yes najma is one star. Nujoom are many. Its normal, singular and plural. Trust me, there is no philosophical difference between them. It is simply a star.

yes it means one star .. for female
when you would like to call an actor or a singer a star
for a girl it would be Nijma
for a guy it would be Najim
plural for guys is NIJOOM
plural for girls is NAJMAT
