Just because a person disagrees with you doesn't mean they hate you. I think people hate when others try to force their opinions and beliefs on them, that's all. If people mind their own business and believe in what they want to believe in there should be no problem.

The flaw in your argument is that you put all believers and non believers into two separate categories, the hated and haters. In truth, believers and non believers alike can be a part of either group, to hate or be hated.
But for those who do hate believers, it is the same reason as for anything else, when people believer passionately about something, it makes them angry when people disagree. Politics, religion, music, you name it it's the same story.

Hate is too strong a word. But lets not forget what 'religious' people are doing in the world EVERY day!
That kind of fanaticism is something to be, at least!, concerned about. No?
It proves, that with belief and faith, rationality goes right out the window. And that is scary. And most people hate what scares them. :-)

I only dislike believers when they insult me. Being told I'm so wrong and I'm such a terrible person because I don't believe as they do ticks me off. But I generally don't hate people until they give me reason to.

Hate and disagreement are two very different things, often confused. Many here disagree with you, and will say so. They may hate the actions and words of people who are disrespectful. But you are not hated because your beliefs.

They probably think that you are going to force them to believe in something they are unwilling to believe in.
Just relax and don't talk religion with these people who are angry with you for believing.
You chose to believe in a truth they can't or won't participate in knowing. It means more to God if the person is willing to believe than if the person is forced to believe.
Oh and another thing all of the wars started in God's name were man's doing not God's.

Step, why do you believe that just because someone else does not share your faith in a creator or challenges biblical text that they hate you?
Challenging someone's beliefs is not a valid definition of hate

I don't know you, how could I hate you? You believe in whatever you want to believe in, it doesn't matter to me. Now when you use you beliefs to cover wrong doing, push your beliefs on others, or use you beliefs to propagate hate, then I will hate you.

I don't hate you nor anyone else because of your beliefs.
I get irritated by the high-handed attitude of some theists in regard to atheists, and I know that irritation works both ways.
I am not "scared" of anything, nor am I one to throw "hate" around lightly.
Believe what you want, but do not force me to do the same.
You should use your spell check, though! : )
