I live in Surrey/South London and am looking for an opportunity to take portrait photographs to expand my hobby and build up a portfolio. I charge no sitting fee and will charge reasonable rates for the photographs so there is no risk involved. I own a mobile studio and good digital camera as well as being able to print my own photographs on a professional kodak printer.

Isn't this merely advertising?

Join a photographic club and ask the members to pose. I did this when I first took up photography. Obviously, you will have to reciprocate, and pose for them as well.

The great thing is that you can be photographed by someone with much more experience, and then discuss the results and how the photographer achieved them. I got into it so much that I went from posing and photographing portraits right through to nudes.

Being a model, especially nude, even more in a nude shoot with more than one photographer, teaches a photographer to appreciate his model and to respect such people. This leads to a much more reciprocal attitude from both parties during a shoot, and is generally very good.

I live in North East Essex, so I cannot pose for you, but think on about my ideas.

Good for you!!! I am a professional photographer. I did 1000's or portraits I loved the children but hated the stress of weddings.
Pets were always a pain. I did a few of babies that had passed away also they are the hardest. You know that once you sell a portrait that you are no longer a amateur. Make sure that you have a contract to protect yourself for weddings. I wish you all the best. It is a career that is very rewarding however it is very stressful and the burn out rate is high. It is so hard to be creative all the time.

advertise yourself it doest cost much to make sum posters/adverts and circulate them yourself round your local shops etc also i think people would pay to have photos of pets mabee this would give you an edge on more reputable people thus gaining you more experiance and could ern you abit at the same time go to cat and dog shows
