I am pleasantly surprised by the number of open minded answers and acceptance here...now all we have to work on is people accepting each other as religious as well as athiest or agnostic!!!

absolutly not.

however if they were to ask my opinion I would tell them. I'd be their father, not their yes man.

For all those, who would love them regardless, you will never be told as your child would be aware of you judgemental feelings, and like so many others have, might commit suicide rather than face rejection.
Everyone is by now, familiar with the “ Story of Lot and Sodom”, This incident had nothing to do with homosexuality as any intellegent
person knows. However when Lot and his two daughters are up in the hills, they get the old guy drunk and seduced him. Even without “Viagra” he manages to get them both pregnant. So much for the blushing virgins part of the story. Gn chap 19 v30-38
Stick to Math: Chap 7, you will be far more in tune with Christ.

If you accept the whole Bible as literal truth, well

If you check out “ Leviticus “ Chap: 20, you will find that there are many reasons, for ‘ believers’ to put people to death.
e.g.
v:9 Anyone who curses either parent must die.
V;10 The man or woman who commits adultery must die.
{ Interestingly, in the new Testament when Jesus stopped the execution of the woman taken in adultery, where was the man? It would seem there may have been a bit of sexism involved.}
v;11 anyone committing incest must die.
V; 13 Any one who lies with someone of the same sex as they would with someone of the opposite sex, of course, must die.
V;27 Any man or woman who is a magician must be put to death by stoning.
Enough examples from this book, Exodus has a couple of dandies
Chap22v17; You shall not allow a witch to live. [ countless thousands of innocent women and men met very cruel deaths because of this one verse.]
Chap 31 v 12-17; Anyone who works on the Sabbath, must be put to DEATH. They are the Bosses orders. [ YAHWEH Himself or is it Herself ] ? The Sabbath is Sat. not Sun. The day of worship was changed by the Roman Catholic church, centuries later.
Many of the other books in the Old Testament are filled with horrendeous stories of justified massacres and slaughters.

It's either all or nothing, religion is the root of all cruelty and most wars

Certainly not. I would try to reason with him and find out what is behind his decision (I'm one of those that believe it is either by choice or some sort of condition due to chemical imbalances, dysfunctional reactors in the brain or whatnot, I know, you probably think I'm nuts) but I would never have the audacity to leave behind my own flesh and blood over something so cheap.

Of course not! I am not fond of the act of homosexuality, but that does not mean I should treat a gay person differently than I would a straight person,my child or not.

If my kid ends up happy and kind I'll be thrilled. Gay, staight, whichever, whatever. Doesn't matter to me, I love my son.

No. Most people don't bother now,its no big thing. I would be more concerned if they were taking drugs or harming other people.

never! being gay is like having brown eyes, or being 5 feet tall. you cannot change that. you have to live with it and accept it. i would never shun someone who was different, especially not my own children. why do you ask? would you?
