Medical depression (I am not pleased with this term but I do not know of a better one) is physiologic not psychiatric and people are depressed no matter how wonderful their life and surroundings. It sounds as if you should discuss matters with your spouse and or a friend and consider a visit to your physician. People that respond to medications commonly referred to as anti depressants have changes in at least 4 of the following: sleep, energy, eating habits, mood, interest in activities, and thinking (ability to concentrate). Volunteer in an area that interests you. I find the time spent volunteering energizes me and improves other aspects of my life.

Prayer, meditation, trying to focus on the things you really want. Perhaps getting some therapy might help you.

I have only a single answer, but it is not obviously a solution. If you seek the answer through it, I truly believe you will understand what makes you happy.
The answer is Vipassana meditation.
