A temperature of 99.0 is not too high. But don't take ibuprofen for your fever because it doesn't reduce fevers. Tylenol, an antipyretic, does reduce fever.

99.0 is not considered a fever. The normal range is 97.6 to 99.6 so you are within normal and do not even have a "low grade fever".

If you have a cold, there is no prescription for that and you have no need to be alarmed. Colds have nothing to do with the weather. They are caused by a virus (rhinovirus). It may even be influenza. Neither one requires a prescription or doctor visit.

Tylenol and aspirin are antipyretics and reduce fever but avoid aspirin and you don't need Tylenol for fever because you don't have one. However, it is good for aches & pains. Ibuprofen is not an antipyretic. Over-the-counter cold/flu medicines will work fine for any other symptoms you may have. Bed rest and exta fluids are in order. Regular, conscientious oral care (brushing, etc.) helps reduce oral viruses & bacteria and can help prevent the number of colds you get. Our noses & mouths habor rhinovirus at all times. Just treat the symptoms.

yes you have a very very small low grade fever. this is something a couple of aspirins can take care of. If you feel like you are getting a head cold then drink some hot tea with lemon and honey in it. it will help break up the sinus, Drink plenty of fluids and fix you some chicken soup. Take temp again in a three hours. If higher tell your mother.
Good luck.
I would like to disagree with the Nurse. I happen to know a normal temp is 98.2- 98.6 I am a CNA.
Although she is right about there is nothing you can take for a cold there is no antibiotic or magic pill you can take to make a cold to go away.
All you can do Is take either Tylenol or aspirin to keep your temp down. and drink plenty of fluids to keep from dehydrating if you are running fever. A cold has to run its course.

thank you. And I hope you are feeling better.

98.6 degrees is a normal temperature. Yours is only slightly elevated. If you take motrin/ibuprofen, it will help a fever and make you feel better. I don't think you need to see a doctor yet.

Ok you should tell your mom that you feel really bad and you want to see the doc. If she says no tell her you really feel bad and you think you need to see the doc. It could be the weather. Drink some tea and get warm. If you still feel bad, turn on some T.V. and try to get your mind off of
it. Sleep could do you some good too.
