Just give him hints, I guess, and if he doesn't seem like he's recipricating to your hints, then just tell him you like him straight up. If he doesn't like you, it won't make it awkward if you know how to act. If he says "No," then so what? Act like it's no big deal when you see him and be cordial and "Hi, how you doin?" THe cooler you are, the cooler he'll be around you.
But on the other hand, if he DOES like you, hip hip hooray!! Then you going for that risk will be a GOOD thing! Good luck. :)
