It looks like I popped a blood vessel. The red spot in my eye looks a little smaller.
Would visine help heal it faster?
How nessacessary is it really to see a doctor?

It sounds as though you are describing a subconjunctival hemorrhage. You are correct in that this is a broken vein on the surface of the eye. It can be do to coughing, sneezing, straining, or rubbing the eye. It is more likely in patients on blood thinners such as aspirin. If this is recurrent we sometimes recommend a blood workup to rule out any blood problems but this is uncommon. Like any bruise, it may last a week to 10 days. Some people find some comfort with using artificial tears to keep the surface lubricated. I hope this has been helpful.

You are probably correct in that you have ruptured a small vessel, a capillary. This is common and nearly always painless. Visine will not affect this condition. The "gets the red out" formula of Visine (not the allergy formula) acts to constrict vessels. It's too late for that now. Thinks of it as a bruise on the sclera and leave it alone. It doesn't require treatment. It will be absorbed in time and it isn't necessary to see a doctor unless it worsens & spreads, you feel pain, remains more than 3 weeks, or more hemorrhages occur.

Visine does help with redness and dryness but it is not necessarily a medication. If its just a broken blood vessel, it should heal on its own rather quickly. I would recommend seeing a doctor if it continues to stay red or gets worse. Good Luck.

Does it look like a spider web??, Visine might help but I would recommend you to go see a doctor, but don't freak out, those littl vessels do that when you are tired, had a bad night or some irritation. But the doc can prescribe you something to contract the damn thing so it stops making you look like dracula.

If it is just ONE single spot then YES go, who knows what that is.

You may see a doctor it continues to look bad. It could even be a eye infection.
