"You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."
-- Marcus Cole to Dr. Franklin on "Babylon 5: A Late Delivery from Avalon"

it's up to you on how you want to live your life. You make what happens in your life and no one else. It's fair because the path you decided to take was great. It's unfair because the decision you made had consequences. I don't think karma or a roll of a dice has anything to do with what is destined for a person. Live your life the best way, to the fullest... Every bad turn has a positive side to it. You just need to have an open mind, an open heart and an open ear.

Taking your question at face value, life is both.
It is unfair, absolutely.
But, it's unfair for everyone, so that makes it fair.
But life is not static, we aren't supposed to stand on the beach and watch the waves come in and out. We make sand castles, we bury ourselves in the sand, we paint pictures of it. In effect, we balance the unfairness by our actions. We have the power and the choice to right wrongs, to even the playing field, to make the best out of a bad situation.
On the other hand, life is neither fair nor unfair, it is life in all its glory!

No one should think that life is always going to be fair. Any one who believes that needs to grow up and face facts. All we can do is deal with the situations we face each day and leave the things that we can't handle in Gods hands. I truly believe also that what goes around comes around. So those who take advantage and treat others unfairly will eventually get some of what they dish out.

Life is definitely unfair. But we have to go through the pain and suffering of life to appreciate the little good things in life.

I think life is unfair. So many inoccent people are subjected to ugly things like deaths, accidents, loss of jobs, etc. It seems like the only people that get through life are the ones that are selfish, cruel and hard on others. We all walk all over each other and then get mad when someone does us wrong...gee where did we go wrong? Thanks Adam and Eve. LOL!

life is totally fair- not everyone really deserves it... i think that you should do something really magnificent to deserve it....
we were given life without earning it... i think that's pretty fair for us...
things are always balanced out somehow. you might not know it though. if someone treats u like an idiot, and they always are getting it good, then your just not around them enough to see the balancing things that happen to them. its no roll of the dice....

If life were fair we'd all win the lotto. The range is great. Compare a poor kid in Africa who dies of starvation at 12 to the kid of a billionaire who gets the best of everything and gets to do whatever he/she wants. That's life.
