The same thing happens to me, except I don't get hives, i get one single hive in the same place every time. My doctor said it is probably a mild allergic reaction to something like perfume, dyes, mold, dust... etc. And just because you haven't had any allergies throughout your life doesn't mean you haven't developed a new one. Benadryl is a good idea, for the itching try calamine lotion or soak your arm in some warm water with baking soda in it. I use the baking soda trick whenever I get hives and it works wonders. Good luck!

Here is my story on Hives, I have a daughter whom now is 11 but at the time was only 8, she just one night got a big fat lip. I of course was very worried woundering what in the world was wrong with her. So, I of course took her to the Dr. & come to find out she some hives on her body. So, they of course said,"well looks like hives maybe she is allergic to something. So....we went to an allergiest and did alot of testing...but, never found out anything. Then the hives kept coming & they got alot worse. In time we finially had to go to a Dr. in Stanford Ca, she went through lab test after test & we still have not been able to figure out what is causing her hives to this day. She takes two medacations to keep it under control but, that is starting not to work that well any longer. So, they said," she has what they call Chronic Hives"
My advice to you would be to go get tested for any food allergies first, hopefully you can find your answer there without going through all that we have to go through. If you don't find any answers there go to Immunology Dr. They know what testing to do. Make sure they test your Thyroid, & test you for RA. Don't be surprised if they tell you that you just have hives & they will go away. That is what they told us. I have been on her looking for answers. There is a juice that you may want to try it is called Xango...I would recommend that you put in a smoothie. It does seem to help alittle.
I am sorry that you have to go through this. I really hope that you find some answers. If I find anything else out I will be happy to share with you.
bortharris@sbcglobal.net if you would like to e-mail me we can talk more about it.
In the mean time take some Benadryl over the counter (sure you have heard of that) that will help with the itching & should take it away for now. Don' be surprised if it comes back though.

Hives are the body's natural response to an allergy or stress. Take Benadryl and apply a cold compress for the itching and heated sensation. Your doctor needs to be aware of this to find the cause but home treatment of Benadryl will help.

allergies can come on at anytime even if you aren't allergic to anything that you know of. it could be dust mights your couch could be dirty, did you use new fabric softener or laundry detergent or change bath soap or anything like that? Take some Benadryl and if it doesn't get better or it gets worse go to the doctor.

Do you go tanning? Last summer I went tanning and used a new tanning lotion with hemp in it, and hours later my arms got really itchy and I had them EVERYWHERE! I tried not to itch, and also put calamine lotion and applied cold to it (some ice cubes wrapped up in a towel, or an ice pack)...they were non-existant by the next day.
