Transporting any animal, not just dogs, to the UK is not easy. Over in Britain, there are very strict laws. The purpose of these laws is that the UK is a Rabies free country, and the government wants to keep it that way.

If you want to avoid having your dog go into Quarantine, you need to apply for the pet passport scheme. The big factor here is that your dog is vaccinated against Rabies, since this is what the government wants to keep out. Once it has, it should be able to travel on an approved route. It must enter the country with an authorised transport company on an authorised route. It must also be treated with Tick and tapeworm treatment no less than 24 hours and no more than 48 hours before it is checked in with the authorised travel company that will bring it to the UK. Should the travel company stop at an unlisted country, it must not leave the airport or the vessel. A letter from the travel company will need to confirm this.

Then you call the airline and send the dog. People do it all the time.
