Well... never heard of a hindi word "DIDAR" - i know of DEEDE (deeday) in hindi which means EYES...

Another word is DEEDAAR - which is an URDU word... not hindi... deedaar means sighting or viewing... as in - I had his/her beautiful DEEDAAR (sighting)...

maybe both of them are connected - deedaar came out of DEEDEY???? any ideas guys???

Its "Deedar". In Hindi it means to see or have a sight of the person or thing one is longing.

If they say in hindi that mujhe uska didar naseeb nahin huwa, means I wasn't able or lucky enough to see him.
