Okay, so I met this guy for like 5 minutes a couple months ago. Then I texted him and said I thought he was cute. he responded back, but his texts were very platonic, not like "Oh i think you're cute, too." My problem is I did this about a year ago with a different guy- I had known him for a while and then I wrote him this big long letter about how cool I thought he was and stuff, and basically he said "I'm not interested" in so many words (nicely)...
Why is it that once you tell guys you like them they don't seem interested anymore!? I thought if I tell someone I like that I think they're cute, shouldn't they be flattered and intrigued?
I am a 21-year old attractive and nice girl, but this method does not seem to be working!!
Guys, please answer me this one!

Guys like a challenge. If u tell them that, they basically get turned off or play hard to get. If you act like you're NOT interested in them, they all of a sudden become interested in you for some strange reason. I think hints are good, but in my opinion I would NEVER be straight forward like that.. it screws things up. Men should be the aggressive ones and females should be more passive.

If a man is interested in you, all you have to do is give him some opportunities to make a move. If he doesn't take advantage, then he's not into you. At that point if you tell him how dreamy he is he'll just get annoyed.
I'm sure there are more modern thinking men around, but that's the way I always felt about it...

You make too large a generalization. Not all guys react that way. If so, why would ANY man agree to get married?
