I have a recipe for spicy seafood pasta. It calls for red pepper flakes. Can I substitute chilli powder or cayenne pepper powder? If so, WHICH IS THE BETTER SUBSTITUTE?

Cayenne Pepper which is the same flavour as Pepper flakes.
Chilli adds a different taste, you might not want in your seafood pasta.

Go with cayenne pepper. Chili powder is a mixture.

just be careful of the chilli powder...it has a lot of salt in it..I'd use the cayenne.

Cayenne would probably be best but, you can use either. (chili powder may have cumin mixed in)

My personal opinion is that chili powder is a good substitute because it has a similar flavor.

Hope that helps!

Cayene pepper will be the same except it is ground. Be cautious use sparingly and test taste often.
