Out of these three, I would choose the RS8 first,
with a close second being the iQ9 and a slightly
distant third going to the 604 S3.
Why? The RS8s will give you the quickest tran-
sient response, best clarity, and offering the deep-
est bass of the three. The iQ9s are a close second
because of their superb imaging and soundstaging
capabilities no doubt do to thier concentric tweeter
mid/bass design. The 604s are good, but not quite
in the same league IMHO.
However, my choice in this class would actually be
the Silverline Audio Prelude. Now this speaker has
a smaller footprint, offers the quickest transients of
about any floor speaker out there, yet still providing
bass that is as deep as the group above but is a bit
cleaner than any of them. Imaging and soundstage
quality is on par with the iQ9. Where this speaker
excells is in the realm of tonal balance, no doubt due
to the fact that all drivers used are cut from the same
cloth (i.e. the same light-weight alloy) so to speak.
It's a no-brainer for me in this price range, simply be-
cause the Prelude does so many things so well that
only speakers of a much higher price may or may not
even be capable of achieving. I mean, they are very
easy to drive with any amp because of their extremely
wide power range ability and their 7-8 Ohm impedance
curve, physics defying dynamics, frequency response,
and sensitivity rating for drivers of this size -not to men-
tion, the high grade hardware used and cabinetry design.
