My grandmother has a bischion. She and her 2 yr old dog would like to visit me after the holidays via plane. I am on the west coast while she is on the east coast. She has a bad back and bad knees so I would like to purchase a carrier that can fit under her seat and one with wheels that she can push / pull around. Any suggestions on the best one available that is both plane approved and afforable?

I took my 18 week old puppy on a flight from Seattle, WA to San Antonio, TX. We had one lay over.

I loved the Sherpa carrier we used. They are not cheap but they aren't too cost prohibitive(the ones on wheels are pretty expensive though). However, most carriers that are approved by the airlines for cabin use aren't inexpensive.

Just for additional information on flying with a pet. Make sure before you make the reservations that the airline you choose accepts pets in the cabin(many do not). Make sure you know their allowance for size specifications on the carrier, and what they require from the vet. Most airlines require a health certificate within 10 days of the flight. If you plan a return flight you'll want to make sure the health certificate will fall into that time limit OR that you can get another in your area.

Make sure you make your reservations soon as most airlines have restrictions on how many pets are allowed on a plane.

Last but not least, I flew via Delta and they treated my dog like a queen. If I had to fly again with my dog I'd go with them.

Good luck!

Good luck with being allowed to travel with a pet in cabin. I recommend a fcarrier by FerPlast. They are definately certified fro air travel, come in a variety of sizes and also come in models with wheels and pulling handels. The quality is excellent.
