allow outside dishes and though that maybe if i set it up shooting out the window maybe it could work. I realize this is probably a dumb question but I love this apartment, but not being able to get directv and the NFL sunday ticket that only they offer is a holdup.

To get a signal, the satellite dish must be pointed directly at the satellite,
with NO obstructions between the two. This means NO trees and NO
buildings. Take into consideration future tree growth, house remodeling
or additions and new construction in your area.

"The satellite signal WILL NOT PASS through glass; don’t try to install your
dish indoors!"

I think it will work. You can try it before you move. Just get a piece of glass in a frame (or tape around the edges) so you don't hurt yourself and hold it in front of your dish. There should be a button on your dish control for alignment. It shows you how strong the signal is as you move the dish around. It will also show you if the piece of glass weakens the signal to any degree. Just note how strong the signal is with and without the glass. It will take two people. One to hold the glass and one to watch the display.

A bigger question might be whether or not the window will let the dish see the right part of the sky where the correct satellite is. It has to be aimed right, not just pointed at the sky. Also, there can't be any trees or other buildings in the way.

Good luck.
