I agree with you. I am a Christian who DOES NOT believe in the trinity. The New Catholic Encyclopedia states that the formulation "one God in 3 Persons" was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century.

Many Christians base their belief in the trinity on John 1 vs 1 where it says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". Yet, Jesus came to earth and was obviously seen by many people and John 1 vs 18 clearly states that "No one has ever seen God." John 1 vs 1 states that "the Word (Jesus) was WITH God". How can someone be with someone and be them at the same time, it's impossible.

You have made a common mistake of taking pieces of the Bible and not considering the rest of it. The Bible does say that Jesus is God. John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Wod, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." If you keep reading you will find that the Word is refering to Jesus. God became man in the form of the Son. The Son was sent as attonment for sins and since God as God cannont be a sacrifice for humans, a perfect God as human could be the only attonment.

As for John 8:42, you have to understand the Trinity. Father, Son, and Spirit are seprate but the same, much like the peel, meat and core of an apple.

Jesus was God in human form. So, as all humans must, Jesus had to sleep. (Psalm 212:3-4, Matthew 8:24-25)

Because Jesus was the perfect, sinless attonment, he had to be tempted and overcome the temptation. (Mark 1:13)

Please don't make assumptions based on a few verses without looking at the rest of it. Some of this is also based on faith, such as the virgin birth. I hope this clears some of this up for you.

Jesus was and is God, it's hard to believe that God(the son) became a man, first a baby then a man. But always God and man at the same time. How? Well God can do these things.
The bible clearly teaches the concept of trinity, it's not man's idea because it doesn't appeal to our logic that all 3: father, son & spirit should be God, are one and yet are all separate. People often think of Jesus as less than God the Father, but Jesus said so many times: 'I and the Father are one', 'If you have seen me then you have seen the Father' As a man Jesus could be tempted as God though He was infallible and Immune, again hard to understand but do you think God can be boxed up, compartmentalised and fully understood?
Angels are messengers, John the baptist acted as a messenger but as John said ' He who comes after me is Greater than I, I am not worthy to undo his bootstrap..'
As a man Jesus slept, because he was fully man and yet God as well. Meanwhile God the father in heaven was not sleeping and does not sleep. I think it fair to say that now the risen Jesus no longer sleeps, or can be tempted as he was on earth.

I used to be a Christian and used to recite the Apostles' Creed whilst attending Communion. But even as I recited the words, I felt very uncomfortable about affirming the belief in the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Ghost), because I really couldn't get my head around the truth of this statement. After a Iot of investigation, I eventually converted to Islam, which I found closer to my beliefs, ie., submission to one God, with no intermediaries - 'thou shalt worship God alone'. I don't believe the term: 'Son of God' should be taken in the literal sense, because God addresses His chosen servants as his 'sons' - Adam (Luke 3:38), Solomon (1 Chronicles 28:6), Jesus (Luke 3:22), Israel (Exodus 4:22) and Ephraim (Jeremiah 31:9) were 'God´s first borns'. The new Testament also interprets 'Son of God" to be allegorical (Romans 8:14). Likewise, Jesus called God, 'father', but Christians call their religious leaders 'father'; it's the father figure, rather than the physical father that's being referred to. Sorry, I'm not answering your question, only supporting your arguement from a different viewpoint. I'm not 'getting at' anyone, or anyone else's religion, but everyone's entitled to their opinion and this is mine.

The Quran does no longer say that the Bible is 'real' or a 'unhazardous scripture' everywhere. The Quran on the different hand tells us that Jesus replaced into as quickly as the Messiah and a PROPHET, and that was once he replaced into as quickly as sent the Ingeel (gospel) yet that Christians forgot lots of His message. listed right here are the important verses from the Quran From those, too, who call themselves Christians, We did take a covenant, even although they forgot a in basic terms proper a factor of the message that was once sent them: so we estranged them, with enmity and hatred between the only and the different, to the day of judgment. and quickly will Allah tutor them what it quite is they have have been given carried out. [Quran translation 5:14] O human beings of the e book! commit no excesses on your faith: Nor say of Allah aught however the fact. Christ Jesus the son of Mary replaced into as quickly as (no longer greater advantageous than) an apostle of Allah, and His word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit continuing from Him: so believe in Allah and His apostles. Say now no longer "Trinity" : desist: that's going to be greater appropriate for you: for Allah is one Allah. Glory be to Him: (a protracted way exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all issues in the heavens and in the international. And adequate is Allah as a Disposer of affairs. [Quran translation 4:171] Your argument is without premise and as a result fake. there are quite a few Bibles created from mutliple fashions, languages, with contradictory verses, all being procalimed to be 'the word of God'. no you will doubt that the Quran says fact regarding the Bible, and Torah for that count. The Quran additionally tells the fact approximately Jesus, that he replaced right into a high quality prophet sent by making use of making use of God even although no longer God. Islam is the fact.

Jesus is never recorded in the Bible as saying the exact words, “I am God.” That does not mean, however, that He did not proclaim that He is God. Take for example Jesus’ words in John 10:30, “I and the Father are one.” At first glance, this might not seem to be a claim to be God. However, look at the Jews’ reaction to His statement, “We are not stoning you for any of these, replied the Jews, but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God” (John 10:33). The Jews understood Jesus’ statement to be a claim to be God. In the following verses, Jesus never corrects the Jews by saying, “I did not claim to be God.” That indicates Jesus was truly saying He was God by declaring, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30). John 8:58 is another example. Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, before Abraham was born, I am!" Again, in response, the Jews take up stones in an attempt to stone Jesus (John 8:59). Why would the Jews want to stone Jesus if He hadn’t said something they believed to be blasphemous, namely, a claim to be God?

John 1:1 says that “the Word was God.” John 1:14 says that “the Word became flesh.” This clearly indicates that Jesus is God in the flesh. Acts 20:28 tells us, "...Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood." Who bought the church with His own blood? Jesus Christ. Acts 20:28 declares that God purchased the church with His own blood. Therefore, Jesus is God!

Thomas the disciple declared concerning Jesus, “Lord and my God” (John 20:28). Jesus does not correct him. Titus 2:13 encourages us to wait for the coming of our God and Savior - Jesus Christ (see also 2 Peter 1:1). In Hebrews 1:8, the Father declares of Jesus, "But about the Son He says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom."

In Revelation, an angel instructed the Apostle John to only worship God (Revelation 19:10). Several times in Scripture Jesus receives worship (Matthew 2:11; 14:33; 28:9,17; Luke 24:52; John 9:38). He never rebukes people for worshiping Him. If Jesus were not God, He would have told people to not worship Him, just as the angel in Revelation had. There are many other verses and passages of Scripture that argue for Jesus’ deity.

The most important reason that Jesus has to be God is that if He is not God, His death would not have been sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2). Only God could pay such an infinite penalty. Only God could take on the sins of the world (2 Corinthians 5:21), die, and be resurrected - proving His victory over sin and death.

I am not insulted. Here is the problem with your suggestion, it is not what Jesus claimed. He did not claim to be merely a messenger and but he did claim to be God, either in words or actions. Also, that is the claim of the New Testament and the Church from the beginning. I won't quote full verses for space sake.

Mt 3:16-17 "...this is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
Mt 28:19 "..baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
* Why would God have us use the name of his "messenger" as part of baptism rite?

In the Old Testament, terms like "spouse" and "shepherd" (Ezekial 34) were strictly divine terms, yet Matthew refers to Christ as the "Bridegroon" (See
Mt 9:15).

Jesus forgave sins, something only reserved to God. Lk 5:20-21 "...'Man, your sins are forgiven you.' And the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, saying, 'Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God only?' " Jesus cannot be both a blasphemer and a messenger of God.
Mk 2:5-7 also addresses this. In Mt 5:17, Jesus forgives on his own authority, not as a representative, "Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them."

Peter proclaims Jesus as God, 2 Peter 1:1 "...in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ..."

Paul proclaims Jesus as God, Rom 9:5 "...is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed for ever. Amen."

In short, your arguement falls short. As C S Lewis says, Jesus was either who he claimed to be or he was a liar and a mad-man. He simple could not be a holy person, or messenger of God as you suggest and have done and said the things he did, or the New Testament writes about him.

So many passages state that God is one, and that is why I became a Muslim. Christianity made no sense to me what so ever. ALHUMDULILAH.

What does God not slumbering or sleeping have to do with Jesus becoming the word made flesh and showing himself in human form that we would be able to assimilate his message?

John 8:42 in it's entirety is:
Jesus said unto them,"If God were your father,ye would love me: for I PROCEEDETH FORTH and CAME FROM God; neither came I of myself but He sent me."
To proceed forth from something means to come out of...in this case to be an aspect of but to be the same as.
Jesus was sleeping because he had adopted a human form. Humans need sleep.
Jesus was tempted because once again all of mankind is tempted and while He walked on earth he was part of mankind. In order for his sacrifice to have any sort of meaning for the average man, one had to realize this was not just anyone giving their life for others. This was God given a human body but blameless and spotless as a lamb.
This is my belief and I am sure you still do not believe it but that is all I can say about it. Peace to you for standing up for your own beliefs.

God is a spiritual being, who is "made of" three different parts, the trinity. That is God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. When people speak of God, they mean the one who created us and rules Heaven, but technically He is all three. Jesus is also considered God's son who he sent to the Virgin Mary.
