What are humanities?

I'm in high school, and we need to fill in our humanities requirments neded to graduate. But I don't know what Humanities are. Does Choir or French count as Humanities?

That is like when you have to do a certain amount of hours of comunity service... like cooking for homeless people. No, Choir and French aren't humanites.....

No, or at least not at my high school. English and history are what count as humanities here.
