Best recorder for interviewing and transcribing?

I'm going to be doing a bunch of interviews which will then need to be transcribed. What should I buy that would work best for this purpose? A cassette recorder? A digital recorder? A transcription machine - if such a thing exists? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

they have all sorts of equipment that you can look into.

Cassette or Digital would be best. Trial and Error......
