Jesus said go spread my word quietly and peacefully.........somehow all didn't read that line in the Bible.
To me...all those that call names on both sides of the issues actually stand on the same side but fight cause they themselves dont' want to realize it.
How many preachers you see standing on the street screaming at people like so called christians do on here or in other places? Some just speak to see their own text...it gives them joy.

People have been fighting over religion for centuries. Wars have been fought over religion. It's just ignorance. Religion, as with anything else, is just an acceptance issue. If I believe in Jesus and you believe in Sheba I can't tell you your wrong because I have no knowledge of that religion. People have to be open minded about religion and that is something very few people can do. Religion is one of the top reasons people do not marry. They simply can't come to an agreement on which religion is the "right" one. They can't accept that a spouse may want to go to Temple while your going to church. And, by the way, how do we raise our children? I had someone ask me that recently and I said "with a kind and loving heart". I was raised in two religions and so I am probably more open minded then most regarding this subject. If I feel like I want to go to Temple I go, If I feel like church then it's 12:00 mass. An open and accepting mind is a blessing.

People ahve been using religion as an excuse for war/politic/personal gains for centuries. but what they forget is that religion does not allow war in everyday situations but only in extreme circumstances such as when the faith is in danger or the people are targted for being of a particular race, origin or religion.
So over the thousands of years nothing has really changed, people are still doing it here today but using a more sophisticated electronic method. people are using it to "disrespect" and blasphomicise ( if there is such a word) each others cultures beliefs and religion. This includes the media, the governments, individual crack pots etc..
The sad thing is that it will never stop. as long as there are people this will continue.. we can do all we can .. but nothing will achieved. For one peacful person there are 3 who want to break up the peace.. what can we do.... nothing its a vicious circle

I guess it would seem as if there is fighting amongs the "christians" regarding various beliefs, and that's only one of the problems. Paul begged for unity in 1 Corinthians 1:10 when he spoke that we should all "speak the same thing and let there be no divisions among you." With everyone going so many different directions away from the Word of God, it's a wonder how it could be said that everyone is serving the same God.
In regard to your statement/question, you've mention numerous points that I'd like to address (too many to address fully).
You asked would God want us to fight and argue over his word? Jesus gave the Great Commission to his disciples (soon to be known as apostles) to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16. This would give everyone the opportunity to hear God's word regarding his Son, his sacrifice, and his plan of salvation for mankind. Whether one chooses to believe it or not is up to them. It's not being forced on them, but "knowing the terror of the Lord, we persuade men," 2 Corinthians 5:11, because, just as there are consequences for disobeying the laws of the land, there will be a severe penalty for not obeying God's law. Just because one doesn't believe that they'll go to Hell for being disobedient, doesn't mean that they won't. We're not trying to force you to be converted, but we're offering you an alternative, giving you an opportunity to have a change of mind, because one day all of us are going to have to stand before God and be judge by him. Seeing that God is going to judge us by "the books," it's common sense that one would want to know what "the books" have to say regarding the way the God wants him/her to live. If you were walking in front of a speeding car that you failed to notice, would you thank the person that came up and tried to snatch you out of the path to safety, or would you feel that he's violating your right to choose to be run over and get yourself killed? It's the same thing with Christians. We're not perfect. We have, however, been given a mission to accomplish and, if no one decides to listen to us, our job is still done, but what of those who refused to listen? When they stand before God on the last day, they won't be able to say that you didn't try to warn me. If we let them believe what they want to believe, without trying to show them God's way, then we are not living up to God's standards and will have to pay the price as well. I think Ezekiel 3:18-19 sums that up very well.
Hopefully, this will help change your way of thinking regarding Christians. We do what we do because we are commanded to, but mostly because we care. If we didn't, we wouldn't bother telling you anything, and we can all fry forever together.

what I have noticed here, in my opinion, is the desire of many to put down Christians and their belief in God. I never seen questions from Christians on what they think of Atheist, or Jews or Muslims, etc. The questions are mostly to provoke Christians to defend their beliefs and explain about God and His creation, His purposes and plans and His Son, Jesus Christ.
I've read many stupid, thoughtless, mean, nasty and rude questions toward Christians. Most Christians here responded in truths and facts and based their answers in the Word of God. God wants Christians to be bold, not to be robots. In fact, God uses many true Christians here in this section of Yahoo Answers, whether you believe that or not, is on your shoulder.
The issue really is that Christian detractors cannot put a good Christian down. And that kills them---
I don't see fighting here-- arguments, disagreements perhaps; everyone is entitled to their own opinions and everyone is entitled to respond when the question is hitting them below the belt.
This section is created for Inquiring Minds who want to know something.... or express something.
In fact-- your post is attacking a Christian-- AGAIN.
It's a cycle we are going through here; and the target mostly are Christians.
Stop questioning Christians of their belief; they will never question your own belief-- they will SHARE what they believe. I think that's where the confusion lies. *smile*

I figure that my God ( higher power ) is so big that he cannot fit into one religion ( bumper sticker) . My independent thought is that different faiths just have a different way to look upon God. They each & all have somethings right & somethings wrong. God is love so stop fighting about God. I just take it all in & use what is uplifting for me.

Because the Christians are responsible for forcing crap down people's throats, like us Native Americans, when we already had our own belief system. (They are just basically advertising their religion in the same manner as if Wal-mart said "You MUST shop here!" (I'm quoting someone))
They don't like to leave us alone becasue we don't have the same belief system as they do, and I have never been christian, but I have seen how they treat the Atheists and Pagans... unfairly.

People is always entitled to their own opinion. They said if you don't want to fight with anybody, don't talk about politics and religion.
But if someone is desperate and wants a solution to their problem maybe religion and faith can help them. Not instilling fear on anyone.

People "fight" here because they're bored and have nothing better to do. I prefer to ask questions in which I actually learn something about other people (I'll admit to trolling a bit sometimes, though. We all do it).
