Hi Guys,

I am running 1 good anti virus program, but I would like another for safety sake. Can you recommend any good free anti virus programs from the net. Thank you for your help.

use an online scan at houscall.trendmicro.com

consider getting the best on the market and pay the $40 for a years licence to pc-cillin14 from www.trendmicro.com
they release updated virus definitions as soon as they are ready sometimes as frequently as every hour there is a new update avsailable for download.
trust me this suite is not only the best anti-virus but it is a complet security solution with a 100% costomisable firewall alowing you to block or allow anything you want you can even set your system to true stealth mode meaning that from the point of a passing hackers probes your computer does not exist. you can i guess set to true stealth mode with any firewall when configured correctly. to test your firewall go to www.grc.com and run the shields up test and a few of the other free tests that are available including the firewall leak test, which when your firewall is correctly configured should warn of outgoing connections and you need to either allow or deny them to continue. allow this once to connect and then remove it from your firewalls list of approved connections then repeat the test to deny connection, if your system is corectly configured you will not be able to connect. but back to the question, more than one Antivirus program installed and running on a computer will render all installed programs useless as they conflict with each other. the same can be said for firewalls.
disable any hardware firewalls you have and stick to just the trendmicro firewall correctly configured. and your system will be as safe as it can be from attacks.
and good luck.

If your current AV runs in the background the on;y one you can use is Bitdefenfder Free, which is very good and will only scan on demand. Don't run 2 real time AV at once.
http://www.bitdefender.co.uk/site/Main/view/Download-Free-Products.html - Bitdefender doesn't run in the background and can be used as a second back up anti virus.

I use the free = Avast = 4 Home Edition - Free antivirus software - free virus protection for home PC: - full-featured antivirus package designed for home usage.(FREE) = http://www.avast.com and really like it as it has always kept me safe from virus, worms, trojans, etc. Only have one a/v program enabled at a time.

An important thing to keep in mind, regardless of which anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware and firewall you use
( http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/default.mspx ) is to keep it UPDATED, just as it is important to make sure you have all windows critical and security updates +

If you run more than one antivirus they can corrupt each other or detect each other as a virus and cause big problems. Just stick with the one you have if it works ok.
